It seems the ad is in danger of being canned do to a number of complaints (mainly from vegans). Perhaps they should try a Lamb Chop. It might give them a sense of humour.
Re: Australia Day 2016
If they had any sense they'd be sheep farmers with sheep to sell.

****** elections
nothing wrong with the politicians republic. rather have our head of state chosen by a two thirds majority of parliament than the current system where the monarchs representative is picked by one bloody person. if tony abbott had gotten a choice it would have been sir prince ****** phillip

yeah, I'd be happy with that, in principle ... but we might end up with the president least likely to offend, rather than the president most able. IMO the (putative) presidential role should be a purely ceremonial one, replacing that of the governor-general, with virtually no other changes to the structure of our parliament. No presidential style rubbish, thank you very much, we've got enough of that already with the general election and the prime ministerial office.

Re: Australia Day 2016
My point is that this award has become overly politically correct over the years in order not to offend anyone. Its lost any meaning to me, plus i think its an insult to the tens of thousands of selfless people who do community & charity work year in, year out but will never receive any recognition from anyone.

I'll take that. Point proved.
lefty and republican ... possibly ... and he's not overt/political about any of the things you mentioned
What point is proved?

Re: Australia Day 2016
Well I don't see how you've proven any point. Not with any debating or argument supporting techniques that I recognise, anyway, it just seems to be an assertion and 'so there' ... happy to hear your argument any time you'd like to start.
The man did NOT get this award just because he promotes any of those issues you derided; we don't even know if he belongs to any of those groups you mentioned.

Calling out the bullying of females in the Army (including sexual harassment and assault); blanket discrimination against religious minorities; and advocating against racism is neither "overly PC" nor "leftist republican twaddle".

I was'nt promoting a 'debate'. I was just making a general comment on this award. I still don't know who won it or what his platform is.....as i pointed out, i just don't think it relevant anymore.

Sorry, had a call from a neighbor who had a fall & i had to call an ambulance for her. But yes..my comment was made in general terms without knowing who had actually been awarded AOTY. I have now read who won it & apart from stopping sexism in the military (which i agree with) the rest of his ideology is misguided imho. I know the sanctimonious & self righteous won't agree but i don't give a shit. You are entitled to your opinion just as i'm entitled to mine.
Re: Australia Day 2016
... so only the sanctimonious and self-righteous don't agree with you?
Wow.
Wow.
