AFL 2017
Thoughts for 2017 season
Bulldogs
Might add Cloke ....seemed like a good idea a month ago ...doesnt seem necessary now ...Bevo will get the most out of him ...they'll be challenging again next season
Swans
Might lose Mitchall ...Will challenge again ...unlucky to lose
Cats
Dangerfield to star again ...and hope the rest of the midfield catch up to them
GWS
Too much talent ...so close this year ...West Coast and Adelaide won their first flags after 6 years
Hawks
Another year older ...may get Mitchell and Jaeger (who might be fit) ...Clarkson will have them up again
Crows
Need some midfield help ...strong fwd line still good ...second year blues for Pyke ...should be up but chance to drop
Eagles
10 outright home games ...may struggle without Notakneey ...will need Lycett fit and improved or a good ruck trade in ...home track bullies will challenge
Roos
Ran out of puff in 2016 ...Retired 4 stars ,,,may lose Wells ...a challenge to Scott's coaching ability to stay in the 8
Dees
New coach ...Jessie Hogan , Max Gawn and a talented midfield led by Jack Viney ...a chance to burst into the finals
Saints
Almost snuck into finals this year (#freekickhawthorn in rd 3 away) ...Roo another year older ...Carlisle for key backman ...emerging midfield , good fwd line ...a chance for the 8
Port
Gray Wingard Boak Wines Hartlett Dixon Ebert ...Htf do these blokes keep missing the finals? ...Ryder back ....Will probably miss again ...but their best is good enough
Pies
Buckley is the best coach ever and should get a contract extension ...if they land the free agents they are rumoured to be chasing ( Wells Mayne etc) and are paying them the rumoured money then they have no excuses for failure
Tiges
hopefully will get Prestia ...hopefully Yaz is over his metal illness* ,,,hopefully Balmey has beaten some coaching ability into Dimma ...there best is good enough ...wont see enough of it to make the 8 though
Blues
Lot of hype for a team that won a game less than Richmond ...will add some more GWS salary cap sacrifices to the list ...will be hard to score against ... should keep improving
Gold Coast
Lynch is a star ...will need Ablett back ...will need a few more to step up ...improvement but not enough
Dockers
Sandi's last hurrah ...Fyfe back ...Bennell over his "calf" ...McCarthy in ..the Hills reunited ...a clear out of tired second rank players ...RoLy refreshed after a year off ...could be premiers or wooden spoon
Lions
the new coach and the new footy manager are inheriting a mess ...there are some good players in the team (and some of them may still be there next season) ...probably pick them for the spoon but they are capable of improvement
Bombers
the drug cheats are available ...they'll have a big crack at finals ...they'll probably get there
So
I have 16 teams in the top 8 and about a dozen capable of winning the flag
Bulldogs

The ex Ms H saw this lost and she is furious with you Embee. Ex Ms H is convinced 2017 is tiger time. K also thinks Dusty has a post footy career as a quantum mathematician.
Agree with your assessments but you have underrated the greatest coach in AFL history. The pies will overachieve and end up 16th. The Normy will be renamed the Buckleys.

DrugDos appeal fails...sentences stand...only matter left is for Watson to return the Brownlow he won courtesy of drugging up.
Meanwhile it has emerged the Weazels are negotiating with Sammy Mitchell to move west. He'd be on a promise to play and assistant coach as a lead in to a senior coaching role....no wonder the Dawks are so keen to get Jaeger O and the other Mitchell.

Suggest it will take a bit more than the reunited Hills to hoist Freo back into contention.

Hehehe
The Drugdons are considering an appeal to the Court of Human Rights. The Court usually considers cases of genocide, refugee and humanitarian cases.
Time the AFL stepped in to withdraw the license.

Oh no. It's just tragic, really. Perhaps imprisonment really is the only way he can access rehabilitation ...
The Swedes seem to know how to do this. Better than we do, anyway.

It's been a sad end of season for Cats supporters. Two absolutely fantastic players finishing up. Next year Lonergan and Mackie will almost certainly follow them.

Re: AFL 2017
Yet another remarkably astute Eddyhead decision...gets rid of Balme who has sense, is collegiate and well liked for Grubby who has a record of working at the margins and making decisions without consultation...eg Grubby's decision to lock the Scumbos into paying Mayne $2.0M over 4 seasons is classic...
According to Wilson and others, Eddyhead has pissed off several scumbo board members....got to love it.

Luxford, Clark and a few slowly progressing rookies also culled. Caddy the main loss after Enright and Bartel, that's a lot of tackles leaving.

Re: AFL 2017
the Irishman is a good get (tho no Enright)....do not see any significant fall for the cats...still should make the 8
Vic teams to make the 8 - not in order- should be cats, saints, bullies and possibly the Dawks or Dees.
Interstate teams in the mix are giants, cows, shockers, port and maybe the bloods...
Norf to miss as will the Dawks (O'Meara will take a while)...the weazels lack of pace will not be helped with Sammy's recruitment...
Bottom 4 will be (not in order) drugons (most of the returning suspended players are over rated and/or slow), Scumbos, Brions and Tigers (coach to be sacked after losing the first 6 on the trot).

I agree about Essendon. All the blokes that haven't played for 18 months will be rusty as hell for the first 10 weeks and by then the year's practically shot.

Watson has decided to hand the medal back. Wonder if he will hand back sponsor dollars. Armstrong has been sued and Watson and other druggies may as well.
