Ever so slightly nutso...
I love the notion that Scientologists are the only people in the world who can help traffic accident victims...

I've never understood scientology. I've never understood how an adult can possibly believe in it. It sounds like an imaginary "club" that a couple of 7 year olds would make up.

And that youtube video is interesting because it's so obvious that he's acting. He's acting exactly as he does in most of his films. The laugh to himself, the deliberate speech, the contrivance, everything. It's all acting. No-one talks and behaves like that in real life.

You could pretty much say the same thing for all organised religion.
But nothing is quite as off-the-wall funny as Scientology.
Re: Ever so slightly nutso...
I can't believe I just sat through that whole video. Not one bit of it made any sort of sense, even if you ignore the Scientology part, the actual words he was saying didn't make any sense.
If he ever gets a grip, his best bet is to claim that he was drugged, hypnotised, or blackmailed into doing the Scientologists' bidding.

Not that I'm looking to, but I couldn't see myself signing up for a 'religion' that works so hard to keep everything a secret and stifle debate.

"You're either on board or you're not on board. If you're on board, then you're right on board." He's almost convinced me . . . . I just wonder what else he's on . . .

To be fair, that's the basic principle we live by here at Bails HQ.
You're either on the board or you're not on the board. If you're on the board, then you're right on the board. And if you're not, you're not.
Right?

I can't take the credit: "So you think you might be a cult... For Dummies" (Hohtair publications, 1972)
Re: Ever so slightly nutso...
That second link has also been removed now. It seems one of the head Scientologists spends a lot of time on YouTube.

The head Scientologist is supposed to be on an intergalactic cruise, and will be reincarnated upon his return.bliksem wrote:That second link has also been removed now. It seems one of the head Scientologists spends a lot of time on YouTube.

Re: Ever so slightly nutso...
Anyone see the hour long programme on the Beeb a couple of months back ?
The reporter (I forget his name - but certainly non-confrontational) was man handled by some seriously viscious looking thugs who accompanied the Scientology spokesman whilst they stalked the Beeb crew throughout their 5 days in the town.
The crew were finally given an hour "to get out of town" and, during this time were forbidden to speak to any Scientologists!! As this ultimatum was READ out (per Moses and Ten Commandments style) the thugs covered the camera lens and shoved the cameraman across the pavement.
John Wayne eat yer heart out ....
Some "religion" ... as the BBC surmised - grown men and women playing at kid's games believing that their Intergalactic Leader would return to save only the Scientologists.
Freaky and sinister bunch .... but then along comes Mr Top Gun himself to quell the fears .....
