Does anyone find Ian Smith (commentator) slightly annoying?
He likes a good Sledge in the commentators box and also complains about players having a chin-wag out in the middle! Ruddy hell!

I like him. He has a tough job commentating on his inept team.

Re: Does anyone find Ian Smith (commentator) slightly annoying?
Apparently there was a bit of a verbal battle between Smith and Hussain when Hussain mentioned that the Kiwi's couldn't play swing in English Conditions (you'd think they could in snoozer conditions). Furthermore, he attacked Atherton for mentioning a similar thing on New Zealands batting and started reeling out how many times Athers had been out to McGrath, Ambrose and Walsh.
Smith = Sook
Ian Smith in this Series and Graeme in the next one.

BTW: I do like Coney (radio). Acerbic but fair. And he has two eyes (metaphorically).

Coney is excellent - a bit of a loon maybe, but right more often than he's wrong.

PS: I'm glad Smerky put the parenthesis in the thread title.
A Zany PF representative would have been on here inveighing against global racist imperialism and its insidious effects on the beloved country otherwise.

Smith = Sook.
Methinks you are taking what's said in the commentary box waaaaaaaay too seriously. Smiths dig at Atherton stemmed from Atherton talking about 'bunnies', which prompted Smith to remind Atherton about McGrath, it was all in jest. The lot of them rip the pish out of each other all day long and Smiths portly figure is ridiculed at every given opportunity. When Smith was on '3rd man' duties recently Atherton cued him in with something like, 'It's time for todays 3rd man Ian Smith to fill your screen.' Smith was so keen to talk he missed what Athers had said, Michael Holding didn't and he was p*ssing himself. It's like that all the time and I personally think it's great entertainment.

I never said it wasn't entertainment. I just said I don't find Ian Smith that thrilling in all honesty. The rest are really entertaining and very amusing though.

Glad to see Allott has been dropped from the tests - he is a mind numbingly boring commentator.
Just wish old mope face Willis could share comms duties!
