Re: Rugby League 2017
I'm hardly surprised.
You can't afford to lose to so many of the teams below you in the ladder and expect to make the 8. Weak as piss.
And now we are stuck with Mary for another 2 seasons.

Aye. Similarly , I won about $600 on a bet about 5 months ago that the idiotic dragons would miss the 8.

What's the history between the Dragons and the Bulldogs?
The Dogs played with a bit of grit for a team with farquall to play for

That is just downright mean from Embee and Wide Wally.... a casual passerby would be forgiven for confusing you two with Kjnr and the bnlg.

Long standing "local" derby (adjoining Sydney NRL regions). Goes back to the 1985 Grand Final when the Dogs played a "5 hit-up then bomb plan" that nailed the Minor Premiers Dragons to their own quarter for most of the game (one of the most boring GFs of all time). The NRL changed the rules on balls caught in the in-goal as a result of that GF. Was a goal line drop out, now a 22 m restart to the catcher.
The Dogs would get almost as much joy out of stopping the Drags making the Finals as they would in making the 8 themselves. A lot like the relationship between Spurs and Arsenal (neighbour EPL clubs).

2nd coach gets the arse
"THE man who helped engineer Queensland’s remarkable State of Origin series victory this year is the leading contender to replace Michael Maguire as South Sydney coach from next season.
Rookie coach Anthony Seibold is expected to take the reins of the 2014 premiers after Maguire’s fate was sealed by the Rabbitohs’ recent 64-6 hammering from Melbourne Storm.
Maguire hasn’t been sacked yet but is unlikely to fulfil his final two seasons at Redfern.
He is expected to become coach of either the Gold Coast Titans or English Super League club Warrington."

See ya Mick.

OMG ... Blake Ferguson brain explosion. In a desperate attempt to stop a 40:20, he has knocked the ball back into the field where it is picked up by the only player in the vicinity - his opponent who grabs the ball & scores a try.
But Mitchell has just scored to send the Roosters back into the lead.

Re: Rugby League 2017
Cracking game that had a lot of the 2nd SoO about it.
The R00ters were much the better side for most of the 1st half and big chunks of the 2nd, but couldn't quite finish the nags (who hung in largely through the individual brilliance of Roberts, Oates and Hunt). Then came the Ferguson brain explosion WW mentions to give the lead back to Brisbane.
But Latrell Mitchell put the mother of all fends on Jimmy Roberts to put the Chooks back in front. They barely hung on for the win.
Great start to the Finals.

That was shithouse defence all night but particularly bad at the end. I'm not putting that try down to Latrell's "brilliance".

Re: Rugby League 2017
Actually he saved all of his bile, rightly, for the Broncos defence which leaked 9 clean line breaks, 4 which lead to tries and several near misses. It was a very un-Nag-like defensive effort.
Meanwhile the Slimeys push the Storm all the way but the Squall got home 18-16.
So R00ters and Squall go to the Granny qualifying games with a week off next weekend.
Tonight, the Filth and Choccies play for the chance to face the Nags, while Sharks and Cows fight for the right play the Eels.

Aye WW.
PMSL @ Coastal Filth. They had 2 close calls disallowing tries, a close call allowing a try for the Panthers, now a Uate kncck-on from a clearing kick leads to Cartwright pushes 4 away to score and lock up the game for the Choccies.
Huzzah!!!

The Filth's departure also resolves the dilemma that occurs whenever they play the nags, ie who to barrack for or more rightly against.

That whole match was offensive - the Dragons were 4-0 against Penrith and Filth is year with a combined F/A of nearly 100.

Suck shit Sharks. A Gallen error in front of the posts with 30 seconds to go cost them a shot at match winning field goal. And then in extra time a Fifita error 30 out cost them a shot at match tying field goal.
Moos win by a point.

Re: Rugby League 2017
What a bumbling, fumbling game the Sharks played in the 2nd half. Andrew Fifita typified the idiocy by, with the Sharks needing a field goal to stay in it, carried the ball away from middle then dropped it with a minute to play.
Cows only lead once - after Morgan kicked a field goal in the 1st half of extra time.
A win butchered by the Sharks but well done to the Cows, who now play the Slimeys for the right to play Easts.
