Is Shai Hope the New Hope?

The Empire might strike back at Lords.

Congrats Windies - surely the best win this millennium.

And how grouse is Test cricket.

Nah, they chased down 418 v us in the WIs in 02-03 when Love dropped a vital catch off Banks

But that game was a dead rubber.

Well done Windies. I hope this isn't just another flash in the pan. Shai Hope looks the business.

And I think it's safe to say that England have not improved one little bit since Bayliss took over as coach. Still wildly inconsistent. Still no idea who are best number three and number five is.

He's made a big impact in terms of white ball cricket, let's not forget, but I think it's time for a totally different coaching regime for the Test side.

This (link below) is a nice article which nicely puts WI's great win and Hope's amazing performance into perspective.

533 - The number of first-class matches that had been played at Headingley before this Test. Hope is the first man ever to score a century in each innings of a first-class match at the ground.

Wow, really?? Shocked

Headingley has traditionally been bowler-friendly... but for all the England, Yorkshire and overseas touring legends to have played there over the years, it's remarkable it's never been done before (and even more so that it was then almost done twice in the same match by a team who had been bowled out twice in a day and dismissed as county second XI standard a week earlier...)
