Vic country legends?
Kicked off by hearing about the testimonial for Dutchy Holland two days before his death, with an all-star top table of cricketing greats from RAR NSW, including Rick McCosker and Tubby Taylor:
Where are the cricketers from Ballarat or Bendigo or Mildura or Wangaratta? Alan Connolly came from Skipton, Peter Siddle from Morwell, Jim Higgs from Kyabram (Matty Elliott's family also lived up that way at the time he was starting out in the Shield), Lindsay Hassett, Paul Sheahan and Ian Redpath all hailed from Geelong which is hardly Paspalum County....but most others I can call to mind were solid suburban stock (Lawry, Stackpole, Warne, Hughes, Jones, Hodge, etc etc). Who have I forgotten, and Why Is It So that compared with other States regional Victoria produces so disproportionately few international standard cricketers?? Another triumph of The Greatest Game On Earth, or are there other factors at play as well?

Re: Vic country legends?
one of the Hollioake brats went to a private school somewhere in regional Vic. My Vic geography ain't that good but there's a shedload of private schools out in the sticks, there must be a few cricketers of renown. Don't know if you're counting "just learnt' their cricket there.
