Anyway, Philander, what a gun!

Agree. Philander looks to be a real prospect.

He generally bowls low to mid 130s but significantly he puts it in the right areas and has enough late seam movement to cause concern.

That sort of thing happens when you stray too far from 'he puts it in the right areas'.

Steyn is far more dangerous because of his early seam movement.

Shaun Pollock's on-time seam movement meant he always came to the party. Although Philander arrives at the party fashionably late, apparently.

'Seamingly' Red means 'near enough is good enough when I am posting'. This does not apply to others, though.

Late seam movement could occur after the second bounce, I guess?

Seriously...If this guy was a batsman people would be raving, claiming he's the next big thing. But because he's a bowler, people claim he's had 'easy green top pitches'. But 4 five wicket hauls in 6 innings is nothing to be snuffed at

The guy is quality, no doubt in my mind. I'm scared to see him play on the sub-continent, though.

North had 3 tons and a 96 in his first 6 Tests

What was Duminy's average after 3 tests?

He's been sensational - nothing can be taken away from him. He's had something like the third best start in Tests ever. Or at least I think I saw that. I was recovering from getting immensely drilled, so they could've said he chews on figs whilst humming his favourite Chopin Mazurka and it'd have blown over me. Anyway, I digress... quite a start.

Yes he did...

I'm interested in people's opinions on him. As mentioned previously I heard some luminaries say that he is one of the best bowlers they've seen in a long, long time. One thought that Steyn and one or two others were overrated but he was a gun.

Now that the experts here have seen him bowl in a number of countries how do they think his career might go and how do they rate him?

a number of countries? 4 matches in sa, 3 in nz and 3 in eng. 3 countries most ideally suited for his bowling

looks the business. but the key is to see him perform all around the world over a period of 4-5 years at least
