The implosion of the Saffies has been the story thus far. Time for Amla and Faff to move on. On the plus side NZ and the Lankans have been solid.
At this stage the Bannies would be a cert if Pujara was playing.
Pujara or Shikhar Dharwan?
Instead of Dhoni.

Bangladesh right in the mix as well now, better NRR than Pakistan (who they still have to play) or Sri Lanka.

Re: World Cup 2019
Well boys and girls, I'm off to Colombia for 5 weeks. I fly out early tomorrow.
Dunno how hard it will be to keep in touch with the World Cup and the 3rd SoO game. I get back at the very beginning of August, so at least I won't miss the Ashes.
I'm taking the lightweight laptop but not sure of the vagaries of wifi availability in the South American country.
Have just completed 16 weeks of Spanish lessons so I at least know how to order a beer.
Will do my best to keep in touch from the land of the drug cartels and FARC guerrillas.
Cheers and beers

And today is Alpe d’Huez, make or break...PeterCS wrote:"England struggling & dropping off the leading bunch ... may soon get swallowed up by the main peloton, who are putting down the hammer. Only South Africa and Afghanistan are broom wagon material so far."
Meanwhile, the Kiwis have come through a tough couple of days in the mountains to hang onto the yellow jersey, and it might not be easy to tear it away from them.

England play India and NZ after this.
If they lose all 3 matches (certainly not unlikely) and BDesh win either of their remaining matches (v Pak and India), then England will miss the semis.

Restricting us ATM but fat lot of good that will do with ten wickets in hand with 15 overs to go. They need a bit of luck, an unappreciated and under rated commodity.

Re: World Cup 2019
I'm at the game today and despite the favorable bowling conditions England look toothless with the ball. I said earlier in the thread that in my view our attack is over rated and it is. Starc and Cummings would be a nightmare under the same skies. If we get less than 300 to chase we will have seen a miracle happen. Buttler needs to turn up soon as well. So good in the IPL and so crap for England lately.

You can tell from my woefully off mark comments that I only watch this tosh every four years. This game and the tournament is a craps shoot at the mo. Certainly entertaining though.
