Wonder if Buchanan is part of the footy/cricket clan.
Ned Flanders has a son named Nicholas Buchanan. I think he might have played for the Australian Under 19 team about eight years ago but has spent most of the time since then injured. When fit, he can bowl quickly & hit the ball a long way. He has played a few games in the BBL. I would be surprised to see him play Sheffield Shield matches.

MrsR cleared to play Wozzie Grade
"Cameron Bancroft has been cleared to play Premier Cricket in Western Australia while serving his suspension for ball tampering in South Africa.
Bancroft was tonight granted special dispensation to turn out for his club side Willetton after the 16 WA Premier Cricket clubs held an extraordinary general meeting to vote on the opener's future.
The vote was carried 14-2 after a ballot following a half-hour debate by members of the Western Australia District Cricket Council. "

They have probably noticed that the leading internet cricket forum has been calling them Vixen instead.

No Tom O'Bonnell as far as I can see but there was a Tom O'Donnell (son of Simon) last season who's been let go, and a leggie called Tom O'Connell (about the 15th Next Warnie) is one of the new blokes for next year.

Quite like the dropping of the Bushrangers name and reverting to tradition.
There are some remarkably stupid cricket team names, which marketing geniacs have come up with and made squillions from.
Someone on radio yesterday suggested the most ridiculous cricket team name was the IPL team - the Mumbai Indians. What else could they be? - the Mumbai Vikings, Mumbai Manchurians, Mumbai Melanesians, Mumbai Malawians etc. I suppose they could have nommed themselves as the Mumbai Moneybags.

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2018-19
I note from Embee's post about the Warpie squad that Bangers is included. Presumably it only comes into force when his suspension is concluded and he is only on 1/4 money. Maybe Embee can clarify and that Bangers is not copping additional payments now he is eligible to play local cricket.
By contrast the Spivs have not included Seasick or gcspoc.
Speaking of the Spivs, it seems Madman is looking to play cricket in Melbourne. The Spivs oddly included Reeks FFS on their State Contract list.
Also I note the Gruen Transfer had a crack at gcspoc's lamentable efforts to media manage.

Most animated I’ve ever seen Russell Howcroft.
Wondered whether it might have been Todd Sampson’s agency doing Warner’s poorly constructed PR whitewash.

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2018-19
He has a 9 month ban from international and domestic cricket
That ends 28 December
He will play the BBL (which is a separate contract) and the finish of the Shield .
I dont know the details of the contract but would assume it would be pro rated on his ban
The WACA has a policy of 'support the person - condemn the act'
If you look back at the press conferences you will see that Christina Matthews is next to Bangers
There was no rep visible from CA or CNSW at the other conferences
NLWL picked up Bangers from the airport when he got back from South Africa
The ban exemption to play WA Premier Cricket is because the WADCCI has a rule that players banned at International or State level are also banned at Premier Cricket level
CNSW has no similar rule so it was excessive towards Bangers to be excluded from Premier cricket

I did laugh at "The Big Shoes to Fill" headline. The guy was a phenom at the Warps taking them to an extraordinarily successful run - inc not winning the Shield for 20 years.

At that point, qualifying finals will see the sixth-placed finisher meet third, and fifth play fourth in a round of qualifying finals, from where the respective winners will be drawn against the two top teams in a pair of semi-finals.
The victors will then play-off for the JLT Cup.
