Hard to argue tac, but I'll settle for an Aussie batathon tomorrow. I just hope they don't get complacent. Jumbo and Bhajji are capable of turning this one. They looked more dangerous in a dozen overs this arvo than Hogggyyy!!! did in 2 days.tac wrote:I'd be happy with 3 solid days of rain . . . I've lost all interest in this series since the subi sook-a-thon in Sydney.

Interestingly, that was the point when Australia started to have going everyting wrong in their cricket and the same has been reflected in their results since then.tac wrote:I've lost all interest in this series since the subi sook-a-thon in Sydney.
Fair weather fan, anyone?

Pfft. You make it seem like no other team has won here batting last after 500+ runs have been scored in the first innings.

Interesting take SG. I hardly think everything has been going wrong since Sydney. We turned in to softc0cks in Perth, yes, but we have retained the B-G trophy. No arguing that we are not the near invincible force we were with McGrath and Warne at their best, but we aren't going to drop off the no. 1 perch in a hurry.SG wrote:Interestingly, that was the point when Australia started to have going everyting wrong in their cricket and the same has been reflected in their results since then.tac wrote:I've lost all interest in this series since the subi sook-a-thon in Sydney.

So you disagree that your whole nation were a bunch of massive sooks in the wake of the Sydney Test (you lost because you couldn't hold out for 3 overs against Michael Clarke). I'll let history be the judge. I'm betting Jumbo's ill-considered words at the post-loss press conference (to the applause of your woefully unobjective media) will go down in infamy.

skully,
BG trophy was being retained by Australia at SCG itself and I said Australia got everything wrong after SCG test. And haven't results reflected that, admittedly for 1 test only.
And when did I say you won't be no.1 in world? I'd say you'll remain no.1 for many more years to come.

If I remember correctly, quite a few Aussie fans agreed with us. Didn't Australia's behaviour caused an outrage in Australia as well, with former Aussie players from all sports decrying their behaviour. So you disagree that your whole nation were a bunch of massive sooks in the wake of the Sydney Test
They too must be bunch of massive sooks then?

A bunch of total media beat-up sooks, to sell papers. I listened to talk-back radio for the week after the Sydney Test and 95% of callers were saying stuff like "I'd hate to have the media in the trenches if I was fighting for my country". It was ridiculous. You list the instances of so-called "bad behaviour" by Aussies in the Sydney Test and I'll defend most of it. This crap about not walking and not appealing for catches was just such a sook after losing a match you didn't deserve to lose. Yes, you got the wrong end of the umpiring decisions, but that happens every so often in Test matches. We got the wrong end in the Perth Test, c'est la vi. As Roy says, it evens up. I remain disappointed in the extreme that so many of you would sook so badly in the wake of a loss without having a good hard look at yourselves. You should've got out with a draw but you didn't. In the end, it was those 2 or 3 overs of brain snaps v Roy and Pup that cost you.SG wrote:If I remember correctly, quite a few Aussie fans agreed with us. Does anyone seriously think that Hogg is the answer to Australia's spin vacancy?
Seriously?

No - we should have played Tait/Bolly etc. Clarke and Token are as potent spinners as Hoggy against India.

Yup. Roy + Pup have been considerably more successful than Hogggyyy!!! I have to admit that the idea of Noffke batting at no. 8 and filling the no. 4 seamer spot sounds pretty good right now.

Achilles is probably a better option than Hoggy ...and he probably wouldn't be playing if the dubbers hadn't poached Eggs

Yes. Play Tait. I can already hear Indian fans screaming in glee,"Sasura us saale Tait ka humare khiladiyon ne Taitva dabaai diya..."

Yikes. Wozzie in tearing-down-a-wozzie shocker. Wonder what Sheety thinks? Who knows - Hogggyyy!!! might bowl us to victory after 3 big Aus tons get us to a 100 run lead.

Vikas, your confidence is beginning to unsettle me .. actually me thinks BCCI XI is in a good position to lose now. This pitch is as good as dead and you know past history of low scores in second innings by Indian teams in the past.
Re: Australia v India, 4th test, Adelaide, 24-28 Jan
3 days to go Bucky. Aus will need to bat for 2 off those to have any chance. Draw or Indian win.

In Adelaide, affairs are usually settled on 5th day

Fair do's Bucky, but we have no Warne and McGrath.

and then there is this .. ominous
However, the conditions may have claimed one Indian bowler when RP Singh hobbled off with a hamstring injury. He is sure to be assessed overnight to determine if it is just a niggling strain or something which will oust him for the final three days.
Re: Australia v India, 4th test, Adelaide, 24-28 Jan
Meh, the seamers were only ever there to take the shine off to let Jumbo and Bhajji do their stuff.

**Indian pace-bowler in injury shock**
and before anyone goes ting-tong about the whole thing you could insert 'English' or 'Kiwi' in there instead.

Glad to see the Aussies have finally realised just how crap Hogg is. Don't know what took them so long.

As things stand, I don't think I have remotely suggested anywhere that India will win yet. I was merely speaking out my hopes on what should happen. Two of my wishes yesterday to see Bhajji and Kumble score good amount of runs were granted. I am merely hoping to see 4 or more wickets down by tea tommorrow.
That said it is difficult to imagine India losing the current test unless they bat very poorly in the second innings without getting a lead in the first. Aus chasing 300 odd on Day 5 is not all that too improbable at the barest of minimums unless they score more than 500 in the current innings.
Nevertheless, some fascinating cricket awaits us in the next 3 days. One can only hope that the Aussies feel the pressure of not losing the current test and that feel it to the full.

Harsh but fair LLL. We were clutching at straws in the wake of Warnie's retirement.

He's worse than Giles. In fact, he makes Giles look good.
