Re: Merry Christmas everyone
Nice image Embee.
This morning I woke up very early, well before the Kookaburra laughs and the wattle bird cry.
There was the fading full moon watching me through the bedroom window. Not so much watching over but more glancing in a derisory manner.
In our culture at least we impute a female gender to the moon. To the extent that a rock could have a semblance of sentience I believe it would not give a rats.
I am at a property of an ex Mrs H. I have a small interest in the joint which consists of 25 acres and a large house. The land is more than sufficient for some bush, cottage garden, orchard and veggie plots.
It is also the retirement village for two aged pensioner standard bred pacers who are only a little slower now than when I lost dollars on them 20 years ago. They got their xmas brekky of some lucerne, carrots and apples just before dawn.
Was inspired to write this by Demelza's cheery observation that we are boring old bastards. While I don't contest the observation I am sort of proud of all of us.
Thus far in to the Babel, I confess to having watched glimpses of matches before clicking the remote.
Being stuck in a car driving around I alternate between the local sports station, classical music and the national broadcaster. Both the music and national broadcaster have been infested with Yueliness. The sports station is obsessed with T20. Yesterday they complained about the absence of Test players from the games.
wtf is T20. In xmas terms it is a stocking filler destined in all likelihood for a landfill site (one of our growth industries).
In food terms it is apt that KFC is a major sponsor and advertiser. Remembering to the point of differentiating between T20 games is beyond me. For all the crash and bash asking me to differentiate between matches is akin to expecting me to recall individual instances of vegemite on toast or first fog of the day I have consumed over the decades.
Test cricket is another story. Yes we are most certainly boring old bastards but we know xmas only exists to be Boxing Day Eve.
Tomorrow marks the start of three matches. Each hold particular interest and it is hard to work out which will be closer. The three will be engrossing.
Happy Boxing Day Eve folks.

Re: Merry Christmas everyone
In the spirit of late 2018 ...
The Growly one wishes to extend (with no obligation implicit or explicit) his best wishes for an environmentally safe, socially responsible, stress-free, none addictive and gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday as practised within the traditions of the Christian church (but with respect for the religious or secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or for their choice not to participate in religious or secular traditions at all.)
Furthermore, he sends to all his hopes that they have a medically uncomplicated, personally fulfilling and fiscally successful onset of the generally accepted calendar year (including, but not limited to the Christian calendar, with due respect to the calendars of choice as used by other cultures.)
The preceeding wishes and hopes are extended equally to all, regardless of race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, height, weight, shoe size, capacity of hat, or sexual persuasion.

Yes indeed, i hope 'Person Holidays' brought you nice presents and have a happy 'festive/holiday' period.
No, actually i hope Father Christmas brought you lots of nice gifts and that it is a great CHRISTMAS and NEW YEAR for you and your family, those offended can always do one and go back to their roots. (Our local school told their kids to avoid mentioning Christmas in case it offended the TWO moslems in the school). F--- R---- Off !
