Spoiler icon is there for me.
Apologies. I've always done it long hand.

Re: Trivia 2020
Pretty comprehensive answer from Skully ... "just one more thing", as the spine-tingling phrase went on the detective series.
Or maybe two ...
There's one other gap that might be filled in, too. And it was the original main question, namely:
How exactly are the two apparently *separate* images (and series) linked?
To put it another way: how did the occasion for the second photo come about?
Or maybe two ...
- Location #2, and player to far left of pic #2:
Everything correct about the first photo, including location - the end of that series, man of the match leading his tem off - and all but one player correctly identified in Picture 2.
But you're right Skulls, it doesn't look like Deryck Murray on the far left of Pic #2, because it's not him.
Would also have made two wicketkeepers in that XII, which I think would be a bit unusual in the last few decades. (Strudwick did fulfil that function for one Test of the 1920-21 Ashes we discussed, but I'm not sure even that wasn't a bit unusual way back then?)
No, it's a man of East African Asian origin we're looking for here, not from the Caribbean.
And if I tell you the background building leads me to believe it's not Lord's, but a photoshoot from the SECOND unofficial Test of that strange series, it might be a clue to whom they selected there for back-up duties on his "home" (County) ground ...
... almost EXACTLY 50 years ago - did you notice that?

Re: Trivia 2020
- Spoiler:
- Basharat Hasan at Trent Bridge is it?
and the link might be d'Oliveira ... without whom the first occasion would not have been Procter's last test, and the second wouldn't have happened at all

Re: Trivia 2020
Yes, that all seems correct.
- On the Dolly ...:
- I was thinking more simply, on the lines of "Exclusion".
The 4-0 drubbing the Aussie tourists received in 1969-70 in the Land of Separate Development - which is why I kept plugging at *separate* - was the last Test South Africa played before Readmission.
I suppose there are still some in the outer reaches of Boer country who would like to claim SA was only excluded because they were too good. ...
On the positive side, e.g.: "on 3 May 1971 the Rest of South African XI & the Transvaal team, the Currie Cup champions, walked off the field at Newlands to protest against the government's sports policies." (wiki)

didn't last long ... I thought it was an interesting list, with many high wicket takers like Lillee well down, lower than expected
