Archive sources? A question, not a thread.
Is it just me, or has the cricinfo site (espncricinfo, officially for a few years now) collapsed for reference?
I tried to check some old scorecards. Nada.
Are they using the coronavirus hiatus to rebuild their site, or have they given up informing the (admittedly niche) public about the vast past of cricket?
Since cricketarchive, the only rival I know of, has now I see dived behind a paywall, this looks a bit grim for anyone interested in the past of cricket - including quiz questions.
Or is it just my machine showing vast areas of blank?
Anyone else aware of any of this?
Are there any known alternatives (for, say, scorecards of past matches)?
Personally, I need some past to escape to at this stage ....

Okay. So may be just the "older stuff" that's gone.

I pulled up an old University one from 1857 just to see and another one from a gentleman v players match a couple of years later. No worries.

Yes, they're quite random. Some absolutely niche ones are up, but some random matches don't turn up.
It's getting repaired, I think. There was one stage when some 75 World Cup matches were not up either.

If it's archives you're after and the cabin fever is climbing and you have time on your hands, and you're in Oz, ABC Grandstand is currently replaying Day 1 of Lords 2005, in its entirety not just the wickets and the sixes, including all the seagull counts and other periphery. The story so far: we're about an hour after lunch and Warne has just lost his wicket to leave Australia at a perilous 7-175.

You'd think he'd do better the second time around.
