Good deduction as to nationality....
And one of them certainly looks like Bertie (and not at all like Collins, in face or stance!). If it weren't Oldfield, it would have to be The Don (some similarity of physique and face.) But it's the keeper.
But I'm surprised his mate was not an easier spot. So that one is still open, for anyone who wants a shot.

b) Hanson "Sammy" Carter.
c) Looks more like Ted McDonald than Jack Gregory.
- Feedback on Skully's answers to S5):
b) and c) for sure.
And if c) WERE Gregory, it would be some feat, because he's the "giant" celebrating on his back in his usual fielding position! It's Tasmanian Ted indeed. Who would prove an even greater scourge of England's batting in the return series - a Tasmanian Devil, you could say - than his giant express counterpart. It's hard to find a pic of McDonald smiling. "Saturnine" is the epithet repeatedly used of his mien.
As for a) - are you asking, or telling? Until I have a definite answer, this time I'm going to leave S5a) open!

a) Of course it is! And FOR ONCE in the series, shelling one! - see e.g. Q19) ...
b) There's that equivocation again! Once again, until I have the chips clearly on the roulette number, I'm going to leave this one open! (There are visual clues enough if you look - physique, face, slight awkwardness perhaps - though foot is fleet enough... !)

- Spoiler:
JWHT Douglas started the series as captain for the MCC in England in 1921, lasting 2 Tests before Lord Tennyson took over for the final 3.
- Feedback on Skully's answer to S7):
Quite astoundingly in view of the present series, albeit after much dither and delay, yes!
More of that (Douglas) another time, as I said ...

b) Yes! And in fact, as you'll see later, BOTH SQUADS sailed to England on the same ship in March 1921.
BUT
a) WHAAAATTT? McDONALD??!?! Doesn't look a bit like him! :o)

Both players correct, location of Hendry correct.
But you've misidentified someone else as Andrews, so that still needs tidying up ...

a) How many of these hopeful but already jaded-looking travellers can you name?
b) Between which cities is the train (seen in the background) stopping off for a break ... & a photo?
- Spoiler:
a) Back row: Not sure (maybe Jack Russell), Arthur Dolphin, Wilf Rhodes
Middle Row: Abe Waddington, Manager Fred Toone
Front Row: Jack Hobbs, Rockley Wilson, Frank Woolley, not sure (maybe JWHT Douglas).
b) With the jaded clue I'm guessing Sydney and Melbourne.
- Feedback on Skully's answer to S10):
a) All but the first (top left) and last (bottom right) of those are correct.
Any other offers (IDs) for those two, anyone?
b) Ah, not yet jaded from being at the fog-end of a disastrous tour.
Somewhat jaded from being out the back of Bourke, still enduring a hella long journey through endless desert after an unexpected bastard of a quarantine, and having had an intended "up-ad-at-em" 3 day opening match getting slashed down to a pretty meaningless one-day knockabout (if that helps)

Re: "Series C" - a Big Quiz. (with a long intro/explanation: bear with me ...)
I'm too tired to do a more comprehensive job of "hauling up all the images again" summary at this stage.
So here's a quick summary of what's still to be nailed.
Please check the "inventory of still open answers" from the main part of the quiz, = QQ 1-22. It starts about a third the way down page 5, and ending about 3/4 of the way down the same page
Note: JGK has now also answered Q14 and Q13 a) - however, Q13 b) remains open for guesses or more researched answers. Check my feedbacks for any hints or clues.
Outstanding items from the "S)" section:
S4) (half of this): Who's the guy on the right?
S5a) - a definitive ID of the batsman in the trilby?
S6)b - Batsman ID?
S8)a - Who is this?
S9) - one location still needed - in the team photo - of one of the (correctly named) two new caps in summer 1921, namely (no easy way to Spoiler this): Tommy Andrews.
S10) - Two player IDs: the two standing top left & bottom right of the part-team photo.

PeterCS wrote:So, let's see. I'll field:
i) Mr K's two new answers,
then if time allows:
ii) Skullly's answers to the "S" questions (1-10),
and - when even more time allows -
iii) do a quick (but full) summary of outstanding items, from both the main quiz (1-22) and the "S" questions.
- Feedback on JGK's answers to Q13:
a) Correct. Also (more commonly, I think) known as "Horseshoe". Apparently merely for his luck in winning tosses, while NSW and later Aussie skipper. In other words, nothing to do with his obsession with betting, or his batting! A typical stance of a slightly gaunt, even prematurely gnarled, rather slightly built man with ultra-baggy cap (I'm reminded of Scobie Breasley, if anyone recalls that name. Signs of too much sun without skin protection!)
b) No, not Woolley. This one seems to have an old-fashioned belt? But even if not, no wavy hair - and I think Frank was even taller than this sharp-eyed chap, who looks very awkward as the ball strikes him on the hip. In this series, he often fielded at one of the slip (or other close catching) positions, for more than one reason I suppose.
It was another crucial spill. But I won't elaborate until someone cracks Part b).
- Spoiler:
- Was it Wilfred? Maybe looking to hide the old guy in the slips.

Yes indeed. One of those two reasons I mentioned.
Also regarded as a generally fine catcher, a "safe pair of hands". The other reason.
Not sure what Howell thought at that moment ... but I can guess.
........................................................................................
So, quick update: Q 13 is now also fully answered.

Your knowledge of the look and stance of both English and Australian players of that era is far superior to mine, Peter.

Re: "Series C" - a Big Quiz. (with a long intro/explanation: bear with me ...)
Maybe it's simply that I've looked at and compared the faces & photos to an extent that I find it much easier to "pick them off".
I don't think it's all that impossible - even with the poor quality of a handful of the images - if you follow the visual clues as I mentioned, and check individuals against the team photos.
However, the above is not an argument, or a plea or polemic, or anything much at all but a perspective.
It seems this quiz is just about played out....
So I'll set up an "Answers" thread sometime this week. (I mentioned above that a separate thread - with solutions integrated and in sequence - might be neater than the piecemeal, sometimes two-or three-phase answers on this thread. And a separate thread allows a bit more info, images & sidelights.)
