Wackies have done a Ganjas and won the toss and decided to field.

After a 2-13 start, the sting seems to have gone from the pitch and Taylor and Williamson have taken the score to 2-72.

Root’s fallen away, Smith’s falling away, we’ll wait and see on Kohli... Kane the last man standing?

You'd take 431 after being inserted.

The Pakistanis would certainly take 431, but they've been closer to 4-31.

Geez, they scratched up 235, thanks to a couple of big 50s to their no.7, Riswan (71), and no.8 batsmen, Ashraf (91), and avoided the follow-on.

300 wickets for Southee, just the third Snoozer to reach that mark.

Well, he has about the same average as Mitchell Johnson (so presumably a lot more consistent...)

In a sure woof, geez the Wackies are now making a decent fist of their run chase.
After being 2-0 and 3-37 they are now 4-215, needing a further 135.

Wackies were cruising at 4 down for a long time, then plucked defeat from the jaws of a Draw.

Re: New Zealand v Pakistan, 1st Test, Mount Maunganui, 26-30 December, 2020
Just a curious one given there’s plenty of statistically inferior bowlers to have achieved the milestone. Southee and Boult (who’s not too far behind) might be the poor man’s Anderson and Broad, but they’re still pretty good... if we start getting spin bowling all-rounders averaging 40 in there, then there might be a case for it.skully wrote:skully wrote:Cheaping??beamer wrote:Well, he has about the same average as Mitchell Johnson (so presumably a lot more consistent...)

Although you have to admit that Trueman would never have predicted there would be 34 bowlers in his club by 2020, including four who’ve doubled that tally...

Mate, all us Aussie supporters reckon Brett Lee is the biggest "cheaper" of 300 Test wickets.
We bagged him throughout his career for being "two lengths Bung" - either too full or too short.
No one doubts the calibre it takes to take 300 Test wickets, but sometimes the path to that mark can be much critiqued.

Well, he and Zaheer Khan are the only pacemen in the 300 club to average over 30, so maybe you have a point there... he’d still have walked into our team in that era, even if he was the worst player in your regular XI!

Could not stand Bung Lee. Refused to learn throughout his career. He got to 300 by Ksnr giving him the ball when the Oppo tail were batting.
Starc is criticised but he gets top order bats out.
