Who will be the leading Test runs scorer in 2015?
Test runs record
just looking up some test stats with gilly's retirement and realised that kallis is pretty high up on the list for test batsmen for runs scored. with a year on ponting he may well be the dark horse for the record (dravid seems to be a bit too old). will be quite a race for the top with punter, who seemed to be the only real contender till a year back. who do you think is going to end with the record (and probably hold on to it for a while)
sachin - 11769 (Born: 24/04/1973)
ponting - 9715 (Born: 19/12/1974)
kallis - 9414 (Born: 16/10/1975)

ponting - 9715 (Born: 19/12/1974)

I think (and hope) Tendulkar keeps it out of reach of both. I know he's going to take it.

Re: Test runs record
If Kallis plays as long as Sachin or Ponting, he will be the one holding that record.
Ponting over Sachin....may be difficult for Ponting since Sachin looks like he is willing to play for few more years.

Re: Test runs record
SRT's shoulders will disintegrate from lifting those 4 lb bats. Besides, the BCCI will play 100 TTs and 100 ODIs between now and the next Test. Little wonder that the Little Maestro will become bored with "Cash Cricket" and retire to a life of Godness after the "one-day-athon". Punter will street him in "Test Aggregate" stakes.

Agree, think Sachin will break down earlier than the other two he plays too much, i got a feeling Kallis just might nick it.

Re: Test runs record
I just hope the BCCI doesn't insult the Indian cricket-loving populace and play a multitude of Tests v Bangers and Zimmers between now and the next meaningful challenge for the Indian Test side. It would be a total insult to the greatness of SRT.
Apologies if my ignorance of the already established Test program conflicts with this post.

Re: Test runs record
youre close. we play the saffies next
sachin doesnt play t20s and recently said he could well be playing for another 4 years. i think he is more likely to retain the runs record but could well lose the centuries record to punter, dependent on each player's form of course. jacky seems to be the form player right now, with punter in a bit of a slump since last year

Think he has stopped using those 4lb bats.
Would love to see him choose his ODI's to prolong his test career.
But Ponting has been amazing for the last few years as well as very fit.
Whoever among kallis, Ponting and Sachin holds that record will truly deserve it. It will be the untimate testement to form, fitness and desire.

Tendulkar, if fit, would get to play 18 tests (3 against SA in Ind, 3 against SL in SL, 4 against Aussies in Ind, 3 against Eng in Ind, 3 against Pak in Pak and atleast 2 against NZ in NZ) in in next 13 months.Zat wrote:Ponting has something like 30 Tests in the next 2 years...
And I've not yet factored in Banglas' maiden test series in India, for which I think BCCI will find time someday.

And I've not yet factored in Banglas' maiden test series in India, for which I think BCCI will find timesomedayfor in the 22nd century, there's no need to rush these things, after all, you can always play another MODI series against Pakistan.
