Let's start an undated World Cup thread to cover all future football big dances, including the next one in Qatar, that Aus has just qualified for.

With a shout out to the new Grey Wiggle, Andrew Redmayne (who saved Peru's final penalty shot)...

I thought the finals tournament wouldn't be till mid next year like usual - but apparently the Final is a week before Christmas, which means the whole event takes place at the same time as all the European domestic comps that the Messii and Ronaldos play in, as well as the local barn dance, are in full swing. How did FIFA manage to vice Man Utd or Barca or AC Milan or PSG's nuts into accepting all their drawcards being unavailable for a month? (Or shouldn't I ask?)

No idea. As the next post states, the seasons will shut down for a month, but why the financial might of those big clubs and their backing oil states couldn’t undo the deal between Qatar and the Swiss Mafia, who knows.

It should have been kicking off now, really. Qatar’s original proposal was to have it in summer and build 10 fully air-conditioned stadia.

NZ missed out on the final WC 2022 spot after losing to Costa Rica 1-0 overnight.

Bad day for Snoozonia all around. Mind you, our own footballers’ shiteness might have cancelled out the cricketers’ efforts yesterday. I know it’s the semi-competitive Nations League, but our biggest home defeat for over 90 years, to the mighty (in the 1950s) Hungary.
