English Domestic Season 2023
Started today… no snow this year, but the usual mix of rain and wickets on presumably green pitches.
The usual game of how many formats can we shoehorn into a “summer”…

Tons for AC and DH, a reminder to the Test selectors (though think the former’s unlikely to reappear in the longer game now).
Middlesex were 4-4, with all the runs on the board from no-ball extras!

Re: English Domestic Season 2023
some of the oz imports [harris, handscomb, abbot, tremain, mcandrew] did rather well.
Hands helped leics to a sensational win at headingley, chasing 392 they won by 3 wkts.
thats more wins than their entire 2022 season. not a great start for the yorkies, bess got
a lot of stick, but Malan and Mr Bean both got a ton. Kent must be missing Stevens as
theyve signed Hogan whos 41. Actually a lot of transfers, take time to get used to all
these players on different teams!

Re: English Domestic Season 2023
Obviously a fairly green deck at Trent Bridge (where we rocked up prior to the game on our road trip).
Notts got rolled for 256 after being 1-164!! A dibbly dobbler named Lewis FFS Gregory managed 7-84.
Somerset then fell in a heap for 173 although they were as poor as 7-80 and 9-113 at various points. A good last wkt stand got them to 173. Cam Bangers 2nd-top-scored with 27. Sturat got none but Brett Sutton took 6-45. Notts are 1-fer, setting Somerset a target.

Fair effort by Tom Price last night for Gloucs. A ton and a hat trick on the same day!

Not many have achieved that feat in FC cricket, though Procter did it twice!

Haven't looked at the link but I assume you're talking about Marnus' first wicket?

How about Glamorgan - FC record for biggest gap between first and second innings totals.

Useful stat. Nice to see that Marnus and Neser contributed significantly to that record.

Re: English Domestic Season 2023
Good to see!
I always liked that game where one of the counties scored 15 in the 1st innings & 500 odd in the 2nd.
It's called lulling the opposition into a false sense of security.

Useful effort by Spiv Sean Abbott to smash 100* in 34 balls (110* off 41) for Slurrey v Kunt in the Pom version of the Massive Wank.

Middlesex end a 14-match T20 losing streak by chasing down 252 against Surrey with 4 balls to spare… a record aggregate score for the competition.
Still doubt they’ll make the knockout stages, though…

Somerset end an 18-year wait for a T20 title by defending two low totals on Finals Day, a spectacular catch from Kohler-Cadmore sealing it after Daniel Sams had threatened to pull it out of the bag for the Chavs.

Time for some proper cricket, the 16.4-over Battle of the Crisps is back…
Will the Peashooters retain their title? Can the mighty Squib actually win a game? Will anyone really care, other than a few “new” fans mainly there for the (£7 a pint) beer, and maybe the ECB accountants if it goes well…

41-ball century for Brook for the Phonechargers in the 16.4, not enough to overcome the Squib though… or get him in the 50-over World Cup squad.

In the men’s comp, the Beatables are the guaranteed finalists, with the Photocopies and Cowards competing to join them. Last year’s winless Squib only missed out on NRR…
