Word. I can see it now: Umpires... Ponning wasn't out. Cheats. Oh if he'd have ONLY held onto that catch... blah blah....
It was a poisoned chalice, winning in '05. The Aussie sooking nearly killed me.

Whoops. Apologies. They never knew in the first place.

It's amazing how alike the Indians and Aussies are.

Since 2005 we have 'lost', permanently:
Langer
Hodge
Love
Martyn
Gilchrist
Warne
Gillespie
McGrath
Kasprowicz
MacGill
Tait
Theoretically I guess you could add players like Elliott, Bichel, Lehmann, and Blewett to this list. Katich too, if you believe he won't play Tests again (I do).
Losing this many quality players over this (short) period of time was anticipated keenly by some forumers pre-2005, with the common conclusion being that Australia had little or nothing in reserve, especially on the bowling side. So far our 'depth' has been OK.

on the bowling front, lee apart, it lacks bite. batting is heavily reliant on hayden and ponting

Except against SL when they hardly scored a run . . . and Jaques, Pup and Huss made 5 tons between them in 2 tests

Doesn't Roebuck want Katich to replace Punter as Aus captain after the latter has been sacked that is?
Anyways The current Aus team's first real challenge will be in India later in the year if we can field the same team that played the tests this series [barring sudden injuries, retirements] that is.
I wouldn't be too surprised if pitches favouring Kumble and Bhajji awaited them given the recent events and current circumstances. Maximum damage could be on one's mind.

Thanks. And it is in 'appreciation' and not in a 'dig' as some people would think.

"Wouldn't be too surprised"???? Vikas, it's a raging red-hot certainty that dust bowls will be served up. Jumbo and Bhajji vs ...um...er....well.... Hogggyyy!!! and ...maybe... MacDill I guess. I wonder what the odds I could get on bunsens AND monkey chants being prevalent on the Aus tour.Batman wrote:I wouldn't be too surprised if pitches favouring Kumble and Bhajji awaited them given the recent events and current circumstances. Fixed.
Not sure about the chants. But monkey masks could be in demand. Half the population still wouldn't have gotten the point and harmless fun would still be on their thoughts. Under any case irrespective of the charade both teams play out about sportsmanship and behavour, I have a feeling that it will be even more bitter and ugly then it was now.
