Since 2005 we have 'lost', permanently:

Langer
Hodge
Love
Martyn
Gilchrist
Warne
Gillespie
McGrath
Kasprowicz
MacGill
Tait

Theoretically I guess you could add players like Elliott, Bichel, Lehmann, and Blewett to this list. Katich too, if you believe he won't play Tests again (I do).

Losing this many quality players over this (short) period of time was anticipated keenly by some forumers pre-2005, with the common conclusion being that Australia had little or nothing in reserve, especially on the bowling side. So far our 'depth' has been OK in everything bar spin bowling.

Retired in the last 12 months XI:

Langer
Jayasuriya
Lara
Inzamam
Martyn
Styris (yes, I know he's only retired from tests!)
Gilchrist
McMillan
Pollock
Warne
McGrath

drool That's some team! And if you can include Styris for tests you can include Kumble for ODIs. affraid
