Re: Tendulkar breaks Bradman's record!!!!
Amusing mangling of statistics.
I wonder how many international runs against England DGB would have scored if Aus played say 5 ODIs against them every 2nd year between 1929 and 1948. Excluding the war years that would make approximately 30 ODIs. Let's say DGB averaged a Husseyesque 70 odd in ODIs (not unreasonable, given the man's ability), that would be an additional, say, 2000 runs, taking DGB beyond 7000 international runs v England.
SRT has been playing against Aus since 1991. It's taken him 17 years to get this "World Record". At that rate he would need another 7 years to match the hypothetical DGB record v England.
I'm just saying.

Rather than that, skull, if you gave DGB back the war years, imagine how many he would have scored? He lost the best years of his career and he would probably have averaged more than 100 if not for that.

Re: Tendulkar breaks Bradman's record!!!!
Aye. 8 years taken out of his peerless career. He played 52 Tests in his 12 years of Test Cricket. So the missing 8 years could have seen him play another, say, 34 Tests. A rough extrapolation (apologies if that's the wrong word, you pedants) may have seen his career stats look something like:tac wrote:skully wrote:Amusing mangling of statistics.

86 Tests - 137 innings - 27 no - 11,000 runs - 100.00 average (forgive me for giving him the 0.06 extra average to right a 60 year old wrong)

12,000 by 110 dismissals doesn't equal an average of 100, mate.
