Post by Kevin P is President Sat 17 May 2008, 15:56

Has got another few wickets in the recent match between Durham and Yorkshire.

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/countycricket2008/content/player/12457.html

Why is he never talked about as an England hopeful? Cant say I have seen him play or followed his career closely.

Can anyone fill me in?

I will not "FILL" you in. This is a family forum. He looks good, he'll fit into Englands setup up perfectly!

Always injured. Think Chris Tremlett spliced with Alex Tudor.

He's long been considered a talented bowler, but I don't think he's even completed one full season in his career without a long lay off in the middle of it.

I'm sick of saying this, but - Mark Davies has it all. But he's always injured. So he doesn't have it all actually - he has a fragile body.

Looked great for a few weeks at Notts last season when he was brought in as cover for the absent Sidebum, and the rest of the walking wounded attack limping around Trent Bridge mid-late season.

Guess what though?

Yep, he joined them before long and had to head back north.

Shame.

Yeah, cracking bowler. Doesn't stay fit. Another Tremlett/Shreck/Jones/AN Other.

Thought he was younger than 27. Is it worth giving him a go in the Test side and using him like NZ used to use Shane Bond? Can't think of a better uncapped bowler to be honest.

As a 90+MPH shock bowler? No. He's mid-80's maximum. Stock around 80.

Aye - not express by any stretch.

Relies on a very correct action and an upright seam.

If he didn't get injured all the time, you'd tell a young seamer that he was the man to model their action on.

Aye, sort of reminds me of Simon Jones, only a bit taller and not as fast, hence a bit more bounce and the lack of ability to do as much with the ball.

No, I mean make the most of him while he's not injured and deal with it when he inevitably does get crocked.

We've already got 2.5 bowlers like that, if not more. Adding another one won't help us a great deal - unless they want to take 25 squad members on tour with 10 of them being fast bowlers, then pick the 3 or 4 who're actually fit.
