Lancashine whining sound
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/cricket/article3981589.ece
Summary of the article:
We spent no money on improving our ground for 25 years (since the White elephant) and they took away our international cricket. Who can we blame for our own incompetance?

TBH, no Tests at OT doesn't help us. We fare pretty wellish there of recent.

Old Trafford is a great ground. It'll be sh*t without it for four years.

Re: Lancashine whining sound
Hard to sympathise with them really.
If it really is 25 years since they last did any serious redevelopment, then in less than that time Trent Bridge has now seen all stands on all sides of the ground completely redeveloped, with only the Pavilion still standing from the early 80's.
In fact, probably the first of the existing stands to be built, The William Clarke (The Larwood & Voce may have been about the same time), which went up in the mid-80's - I remember sitting in its' predecessor in (I think) 1985 - is already next on the hit-list for another rebuild in the not too distant future.
Thank goodness though, it is a pretty crappy piece of work!

Re: Lancashine whining sound
pity because it's a cracking wicket and the paciest in the country.
But OT has become substandard as a venue. Just hope whatever they do they make it still resemble a cricket ground like at Trent Bridge rather than one of those sporting 'bowls' like in Oz
