Fallacies of 2020 cricket
That all the games are close.
Average winning margin in the 51 games played so far in the IPL: 25 runs OR 6 wks (with 17 balls remaining).
If you count a 'close' game as being won in the last over, or won by less then 10 runs, then in the 51 games played so far only 15 have been close. Less then a 1/3.

As for your original contention i.e. your claim that someone claimed all 2020 games are close, let's go.
First, how many IPL matches have you seen to make your contention? Or are you just playing the stats guru and speaking out your ar$e?

Well that’s bull...there is constant prattling on here about how much more exciting and close these games are to ODIs.Mick Sawyer wrote:Here's a fallacy for you sheety, that anyone has actually said "That all the games are close"

Edited for the exact numbers/ percentages:
I might if I have to drum some facts into your head.
Here's a few for starters.
1. So far, of the 53 IPL games that have happened, 39 IPL games have ended with the margin of victory of 10 runs or less. That is 75%.
2. Of these 33 have finished within a margin of 5 or less runs. That is just under 63%
3. I have watched a few of these games. How many have you watched? Answer the question please.
4. Your team is playing in the Windies. So here's a Windies acronym - HYMC.

And as for your numbers, it seems to me that you are extrapolating means into actual matches played. So a higher average on a few games skews the overall analysis.

Okay.
1) Wrong. There have only been 9 games decided by 10 runs or less. They are games 8, 17, 21, 22, 29, 40, 41, 45, and 49. Only 22 games in total have been won by the team batting first so I don't see WTF you get 39. Perhaps you're drunk...again.

Um, maybe Furry didn't factor in who was batting first.

Exactly, if the team batting second wins the margin has to be less than 5, hence the 63%

Oh so, it's teams batting first now is it? How does that correspond to your original post?
As for your stats, now that you're talking about batting first, well let's take a looksee at a sample.
Games 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 for starters, where your definition said there was one exciting win, i.e. Game 8.
Game 3: RR vs DD: 3 runs, DD wins in 15.1 overs. You're correct.
Game 4: MI vs BR: 1 run, BR wins in 19.4 overs. Not close enough for you?
Game 5: KKR vs DC 2 runs, KKR win in 19 overs. Not close enough for you?
Game 6: 2 runs, You're correct, RR takes it in 18.1 overs.
Game 7: 1 run, winner takes it in 13 overs, you're correct
Game 8: 6 runs, 'exciting win', so no argument on either side, exciting game
Game 9: 3 runs, Winner takes it in 19.5 overs. Not close enough for you?
So, out of 7 games, you claim one exciting game? Horse $hit. And this is just a sample.

Thank you, come again.
Now answer my question: How many IPL games have you watched?

What I particularly dislike is some Bradman-scored-X% -of-his runs-against-one-team kind of w@nker running on stats and making pronouncements about a game or series s/he hasn't watched and has no intention of watching.

True, but clearly not many teams have hit a six off the last necessary ball, hence the 5 runs comment.
