Actually, doesn't playing this match at 2pm local time on a weekday kind of defeat the alleged purpose of t20? That is, play it in the evening or under lights so people can come down after a day at work to see a whole game.
Why not play it somewhere that has lights?

Probably wouldn't have worked out for the subi TV audience.

You'd think a night game would have worked for both the Caribbean and Australian tv audiences better, as the game would have started at about 8am Aus time.

I'd agree with this. Seems odd to be playing Haddit with a busted finger in a hit and giggle.Nath wrote:should rest Haddin and play Ronchi

You'd assume so. Haddit still has a busted finger.

Ronchi is still in the WI. He'll almost certainly play. Would be mad to risk Haddin for the JAMODIs and JAMOTT with an India tour a couple of months away.

Just to fill you in on Andre Fletcher, he is a 20 year old right handed hard hitting middle order batsman from Grenada. He can also keep wicket when required and is a good fielder in most positions.
He is another pick based on 'potential'. Dyson saw him score a century agianst an attack including Taylor, Powell and Lawson, in a match where 13 lbws were given against the Windwards Islands (basically the local umps just gave it out automatically if it hit the pad). So Fletcher played an amazing innings to score an unbeaten 103 out of a total of 189.
I really hope they give all the youngsters a chance in the 20-20. I would love to see Kemar Roach, William Perkins, Kieron Pollard and Andre Fletcher given a go. It would make it a ridiculously young team but who cares? It's only 20-20 and it will give them some exposure against a champion team.

Has Dwayne Smith made himself unavailable for the West Indies? He's chosen county over country?

Starts at 0400 on the east coast down here.
The amazing thing is our TAB is betting 2.85 WI and only 1.40 Aus.
Centrebet is more cautious at 1.50/2.60.
I don't think Australia are great t20 players though the additions to the team will be vital.

He's only playing in the 20-20, and he is out of favor anyway.

I've always rated Smith's talent. Fantastic fielder as well. He's the sort of cricketer who you could see doing great things if given some support and guidance.

Jebus, 2.85 looks pretty generous to me. Would have to be worth a lazy JGK pineapple.kikuyu wrote:Starts at 0400 on the east coast down here.

The JGK pineapple is far to sacred to be frivolouly used on a match of this status. It's woofing power should be saved for the important stuff.
