And as I pointed out, not getting caught doing something isn't the same as not doing it.

Well, from what I've seen so far this year, I'd say the French are currently the leaders.

I would be surprised if there were stats on quntishness. It's not about being penalised or whatever it is about acts on the footy field that should not be seen on it.

I can't believe that anyone is worse than the Saffies or any player worse than Botha.

That was the point I was trying to make, JGK, but you know how some people can't see past a stat that seems to back them up, no matter how illogical it is . . .

Reasonable statement. At least the French went for an all-out brawl rather than the sneaky stuff.

Oh so you missed the spear tackle which put Smit out of the Tri Nations?

Or the one that put O'Driscoll out of the last Lions tour.

Smit?

No, he was picked up off the ball after play had been stopped.

From the angle I saw it appeared that he was attempting the spear. The SA press all reported on this. The point is that it should have been a red card. The sad part is that Dickenson the qunt apologised to Smit after the game and said he should have taken more action.

Thorn deserved to be yellow carded and he was. I know the bloke a little bit and he's a genuine good man. He should not have lifted Smit. Equally, Smit might now understand that scraggy provocation can have it's downside.

He wasn't carded for that incident if I recall correctly. IIRC the Smit incident followed on an AB using an elbow on a man on the ground.

Thinking about it, you're right. Recall the Kiwi callers mentioning Thorn apologising to Smit at a lineout a minute or two later. As I said, he should have been. Lifting and any attack to the head are big taboos at my place.

Agreed on that.

Imho he was lucky to escape a red.

Thought about driving up for it tomorrow, but weighed it up...

Five hours on the road each way
Hassles parking
Nosebleed seats
Dodgy, on-the-road food
And a probable flogging

Vs

Nice warm lounge room
Comfy recliner chair
New bottle of Wild Turkey Honey Liquer

A no-brainer, really.

And Mrs Zat decided this morning that we should go to Billy Joel later in the year, thus the 'Platinum Visa' is already smoking enough for this week.

^^^^^^^
Sageness personified (except for the Billy Joel bit - I don't think there is an artist on the planet (including Amy Winehouse and Billy Ray Cirrus) that I hate more).

You chose Billy Joel over a Bledisloe test?
