Surely (No)Joginder Sharma has to be dropped first? His bowling was pants. Sreesanth did okay, went for less than the required RR and his leg-spin slower ball did its job.
I think Chawla would be useful against the Saffies. Spin can be the answer if you hold your nerve. And you're not Chris Schofield.
Chawla was injured during training today. Jogi can bat and he was desperately unlucky today. Sreesanth's just not made for this stuff.

But if the Mighty Slayers that are India inflict a huge defeat on SA, SA's NRR could fall below NZzzzzzzzs. Unlikely though.doremi wrote:Gary 111 wrote:doctorspin wrote:So if India beat SA tomorrow they go throuh and NZzzzzzz go home.
If India beat SA by enough it'll be SA going home. The net run rates are all pretty close so I reckon by 25 runs or so might do it.
We'll go through if we beat SAf. Already ahead of NZ in NRR.

Forget the run rates, India's priority should be to win the game first.

Who cares which one of NZ and/or SAf go through?

For India it is pretty simple - NRRs don't come into the picture at all, Mak. They beat SA, they go through; they don't, they don't.

Re: England v India, T20 WC, Durban, 19th Sept
I care. SA for me. Who'd want the Snnooooozzzzies in the semifinal of a Twenty20 tournament?

Well i think it would be a good tactic for India to talk about NRR before tomorrows match, get the Saffies confused, we all know what happens when you mix run rates/pressure with South Africa.

If India have another Yuvraj day and get another 218, we may see South Africa be a bit cynical and not go all out for it - if they know they can lose and still go through if they score for example 203.
(I haven't done the maths here - it gives me headaches so i've just plucked a random number.)

New Zealand's net RR isn't that bad, its still positive (+0.05), for example, e.g. if SA lose by 25 runs they will have a negative RR, so its still very close. Not sure what the exact figure is.

Pakistan, perhaps? Record against SA is rubbish, much better against NewZees in tournaments.

Come on pink, if India go through to the Finals, which isn't likely as we are doooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed, who would you rather face? NZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz or SA?

I think I might have mentioned it.
Those girls wearing blue are a bit distracting.

Yuvraj is the cleanest striker of the ball in world cricket, imo. Lovely languid power.

Awesome hitting by Yuvraj.
As almost everyone mentioned, his 6 6s were the difference between the 2 sides yesterday.
Without them Eng would've strolled past Indian 'bowlers'.

Many senseless Indian news channels were mentioning that Yuvraj's 6 6s were his style of taking revenge for him being benched for the whole Ind-Eng test series.
How senseless one can be?
PS: Though I won't rule out it being a bit of an attempt to take revenge on Eng for all the 6s Dimi hit off him at Oval in the last over.
