AD's contract with England is now up. Obvioulsy, I assumed with how effective he has been with the likes of Harmison and Anderson in such a short time, the ECB would be falling over themselves to extend his contract. Well, I rather alarmingly read in the paper today that the bowling coach going to Sri Lanka with England would be...

None other than Ottis Gibson.

According to the BBC website, AD has a longstanding commentary commitment - hence his absence from Sri Lanka.

Oh right, fair do's. Hope he comes back though. Gibson's possibly a good idea. I mean, he's still taking wickets.

Didn't Gibson have a coaching role somewhere and get sacked? Am I reading too much into all these Durham players getting picked/being given jobs with England*?

* = Collingwood being the captain of the teams they'll be involved with.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if the ECB dilly dallies around when negotiating a new contract with Allan Donald, and South Africa snap him up in the meantime. Im pretty sure the ECB is incompetent enough to make the same mistake twice.

Warwickshire are more likely to snap him up than South Africa.
