Obvioulsy, I assumed with how effective he has been with the likes of Harmison and Anderson in such a short time, the ECB would be falling over themselves to extend his contract. According to the BBC website, AD has a longstanding commentary commitment - hence his absence from Sri Lanka.

Oh right, fair do's. Hope he comes back though. Gibson's possibly a good idea. I mean, he's still taking wickets.

Any chance we can get Gibson to bowl for us as well?

Didn't Gibson have a coaching role somewhere and get sacked? Am I reading too much into all these Durham players getting picked/being given jobs with England*?

* = Collingwood being the captain of the teams they'll be involved with.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if the ECB dilly dallies around when negotiating a new contract with Allan Donald, and South Africa snap him up in the meantime. Im pretty sure the ECB is incompetent enough to make the same mistake twice.
