The Australians are playing their first tour match today and very interestingly, it is Katich who opened with Hayden and not Phil Jaques. Signs of things to come?

Katich is playing beautifully on 70 while Hayden, Ponting and Hussey have been dismissed for low scores.

Katich and Clarke are at the crease.

Rest of Australian squad have : S. Clark, BJ Haddin, PA Jaques, MG Johnson, DE Bollinger, JJ Krejza

So Lee, McGain and Watson are not in the team.

Just notice that Jaques has not been omitted from the squad.

So Jaques is in the XI?? Yet Fleas is opening, and Watson is not in the side. Strange.

I found it strange too. Lee is not playing either and probably McGain is not 100% as yet.

This is the bowler who got him. I've never heard of him. How can I , if he has played just 1 FC match before!!

CA has got it organised with the help of RCA. BCCI is not involved here.

It is a 13 man's squad trhat is playing for Australia. So it can't even be a FC contest.

WTF? On Chandan's link the score is showing 7-176 with (as Chandan says) Bung and Crazy at the crease and yet under the score it says:

"To bat DE Bollinger, PA Jaques, MG Johnson, SR Clark"

Is this a 13-a-side park game or what?

Oh and BTW, if you're lurking PB, Fleas top scored with 73.

That is why I said that it is not even a FC match. And I have a sneaking feeling that Katich will bash India big time in this series.

Aust would be mad not to play Katich. He has experience in the conditions and is probably our best player of spin after Hayden.

So clearly WAtto will play.

The farkin NSP will deserve a good rogering with a Indian cop's baton if they leave Fleas out.

But on the bright side, we will be able to sit back and watch the Forum Fireman gloat.

So looking at the latest score, the only Aus Test players who didn't play were Jaques and Clark. Gump will definitely be in the first Test line up so if Watson gets some wickets and doesn't break down, maybe he will get the no. 6 spot and Jaques makes way for Dossie, leaving Fleas to open.

Hmm, Gump didn't bat, but he now has 1-17 off 5 overs. Clearly playing the short-lived Aus ODD rules of using 12 players - use best bats then drop one to replace him with a bowler when in the field. Bung grabbed a wicket as well.

RCA 2-38 at stumps after being 2-2. Aus made 218.

It isn't a FC game so is literally a practice match with the captains free to choose the rules before the game. Hence 13 play, 11 bat and 11 field. Jaques will get a bat in the second dig no doubt.

Well, let's hope Punter throws the ball to the WHI early tomoz and we hear his hammy snap in Spivtown.

apparently Jaques has back problems and was to see an acupuncturist. There was some whiz-bang announcement that Harbhajan might be in doubt for the 1st Test with a shoulder injury.

Jaques injured himself in Malaysia.

Obsessing about Watto are you nuts I'm merely stating what everyone here knows he will replace Symonds. You're the only dill promoting fleas at six.

The only chance for Katich is whether they will risk Jaques .
