India v Australia, 2nd Test, Mohali, Oct 17-21 (II)

Hayden Ponting Clarke Haddin vs Ganguly Bhajji Zaheer
Aus win 4-3. And Ganguly has been pretty well behaved for sometime now. So 4-2 really. No competition.

Aus win 4-3. And Ganguly has been pretty sober for years.

Jebus, we could have slipped to third in the rankings by then!!Big_Bad_Bob wrote:taipan wrote:Nice of you boys to start promoting the Ashes so early, but I would like to point out that Aus has to play SA twice before that happens..

Not playing.
Great day for India it seems, could only follow it through rediff. Still, Michael Clarke seems set to get a 200 and if wickets are left in the last session, we could be doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed.
Thank you, thank you very much.
Impressive innings by Gambhir. My instincts still really can't back him for a long term opening job. FWIW, Jaffer played a few pearls as well as opener. Didn't count for shit when the going got really tough.
49/0 in 7 overs and then 50/2 in 8. Loved it. Don't think I've reacted like that from updated scores from the internet ever. Bhajji - absolute legend when he gets it right.

the south african series should be pretty interesting, esp since its home and away in a short time. almost certainly more competitive than the ashes

one can only hope so. will kumble make the biggest decision of his career? no one knows
Let's hope for India's team ethos sake he doesn't decide to emulate a certsain ex England captain and cling on
on the back of his past glories of a bygone era!!
Like KP surely Dhoni's time has come.

India have named an unchanged team for the last 2 tests.
On expected lines.

Past glories of a bygone era = Before Jan 2008.
It's going to be tough. Honestly speaking, I can't decide. Bhajji plays for sure.

Just pointing out that it wasn't that long ago that he was churning out really good performances for us. A period when Bhajji was seriously shit, and the cupboard not looking that good. He's been stellar for India, and don't think he should be completely ruled out yet.
Even so, I still can't decide either way.

From cricinfo:
WTF?
There was an animated argument between Ricky Ponting and Brett Lee before lunch, presumably something to do with the fact that the leader of the pace pack wasn't required to bowl until after everyone has finished their roti and butter chicken. And that simmering rage seemed to afflict the batting as well.

The guy behind Bhajji is Ishant.

Spirited fight from Clarke and Haddin at the end of the day, but surely it's India's match.

Well, if he (Mishra) gets a five- for, that's the bells tolling faster for Jumbo.
Am I good or what?

some TV channels reporting that lee and ponting had a go at each other throughout the Indian innings. that explains bowling lee for only a couple of overs in today's game.
