Yep, my all time fave as well - The Holly and the Ivy ....
F/B Lennon's "So this is Christmas", and as a young 'un - "Here comes Santa Claus"
Worst - Slade's garbage "Merry Christmas", flogged to death every year (October to January) in shopping malls.
Sorry, merls, I left a "the" out of the song title . . .

The Holly and the Ivy is there, of course . . . if you like folksongs, try under Vaughan Willimas, Alfred Deller or some other artist names . . .

Re: The Best and Worst Christmas Songs
John Dory is my fave folk song, but I can't find it. You will find "Dark-eyed sailor" and a few others
You might also like Vaughan William's settings of the Shropshire Lad song cycle and Stevenson's Songs of Travel cycle . . . not folk, but very good stuff

Actually I just saw that youtube has a version of Vaughan Williams's "5 variants of Dives & Lazarus" which is a wonderful piece based on a very old folk song . .
