Will Saul tell Carrie that she was right all along about Brody? Will he be allowed to?
Just caught up with E02:
- Spoiler:
- Always thought Saul was dodgy. Remember - he was the only one to fail the polygraph test regarding the suicide of the captured informant (or whatever he was) in S1. I'm betting he won't tell anyone about the Brody clip. Think about it - they can't have the CIA knowing Brody's status at this stage of the story or they don't have a show.
As I write this, I think E03 has already aired, so you'll probably know if I'm way off or not. But that's my Dello top-tip.

I did give you a brief thought for a second there...
- Spoiler:
- ... as his brains exploded into the harbour. What a damp squib of a storyline. They dragged it out for a season and a bit and ultimately went nowhere with it, then tied it off with a neat bow in three scenes. Ah well - he was a prick, I guess.
Can't believe Dexter still hasn't told Deb about killing Rudy and Arthur Miller. I mean, he spent all episode trying to justify what he does - open with that, dumbass: the guy who tried to kill Deb and the guy who killed his wife and Deb's then-boyfriend. Maybe the writers have forgotten. I should send them the boxset.

- Spoiler:
- He went straight to Carrie and showed her the memory card containing Brody's recorded "confession" that was meant to be aired after he blew up everyone in the safe room (which, of course, didn't happen). Will be interesting to see if he shows it to anyone else.
Yeah, I made the same point about the CIA already knowing about Brody and how the producers would keep the show going with that knowledge out so early. The dodgy Saul angle is interesting.

- Odd that nothing was made of Louis' body being found or if it was disposed of were there no blood marks left on the boat.

Could still happen. Dex never revisited his boat from that point on in the episode, so we don't know what's gone on. Presumably (as they made a point of showing us the blood) he'll stumble across the droplets soon and test them and enter a whole new world of Eh? as he wonders who is offing his enemies.
Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Homeland S02E04 - More surprises.
- Spoiler:
- Estes apologises to Carrie (she was right all along about Brody) and gives her a consulting position to watch him, but under his guy, Peter Quinn. They hope to uncover Abu Nazir's future plots via Brody. Carrie hooks up with Brody in a bar and fears that he makes her when she reacts to his ECT question (she had multiple shock treatments after he dobbed her in). Saul and Quinn order her off but she goes in and blows the cover, telling Brody what a traitorous arsehole he is. The CIA have to move in and take him away with a bag over his head. Saul and Quinn don't look happy.
Where to with Brody from here? A double agent role?
Meanwhile Mike and Lauder have deep suspicions about Brody's role in Walker's death and suspect he was working with Walker. Dana has the hots for Finn, the VP's son. He seems way more interesting than Xander.

Well, I'm up to speed with E3 now:
- Spoiler:
- It's getting a bit 24-y in the silliness stakes. (I've just realised that some of the people behind 24 make this series.) I mean, seriously, Carrie is the first - and only - person Saul shows the video to? He doesn't immediately get on the blower to CIA HQ and send them a copy of the file over the interwebs? No - because that would be too easy.
So this is going to go one of two ways: Saul will lose or damage the only copy of the file (because it would make too much sense to make multiple back ups) and it'll be he and Carrie versus Brody, Estes and the whole of the CIA, much like it was last season only with Saul more on board. Or Saul will lose/damage the file and then get killed off, leaving just crazy Carrie's word against Brody and company, pretty much exactly as it was last season.
Meh, I'm still enjoying it, but can't help feeling the writing's gotten very sloppy very quickly this season. Brody was "five minutes out" from the safe house but couldn't give them a call to pop down the road and help him out with his little hostage problem? But wait - he was the only person who could've transported the bomb maker to the safe house in the first place? No, that wouldn't risk exposing him at all - it's not like the CIA were closing in on Billy Bombvest as they spoke... Why couldn't his female contact get the job done? Why would Nazir outsource the job to his number one asset?
Perhaps he likes a bit of TV drama too...?
Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
- Spoiler:
- I thought snapping Billy's neck because he was making too much noise while Brody was trying to lie to his wife on the phone was a bit OTT.

Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Homeland S02E05 - slow but intense.
- Spoiler:
- Basically an interrogation episode. Quinn plays bad cop, and after showing Brody his confession from the memory card, Brody refuses to admit that he was wearing a bomb in the safe room. Quinn stabs him in the hand, then Carrie gets her go as good cop. After turning off all the monitors that Saul and Quinn are watching on (but sound still on), she wears Brody down with kind logic, and he admits to everything.
He is then offered immunity if he becomes a double agent to help the CIA uncover Abu Nazir's plans. Brody dobs in Roya Hammad as a likely starting point to the source of these plans. Brody is returned home. Interesting to see where they go from here.
Meanwhile Finn and Dana go on a date. Finn gives the secret service the slip then accidentally run down a woman and flea the scene.

E4 done.
- Spoiler:
- Hmmm. That was a bit out of left-field - not sure anyone saw "outing" Brody within one episode coming. Where next indeed...

- Good episode. Still think it's going a bit 24sy - it's all happened very quickly that Brody's gone from enemy of the state to double agent after a nice long chat. And they just release him from custody and back into the world after he reluctantly accepts their offer of immunity in exchange for Nazir? What's to stop him running?
That car chase subplot was bizarre and out of left field. Perhaps it's setting up a narrative thread where the VP's presidential campaign is torpedoed by attempts to cover up the hit and run? I don't know. We shall see...
Re: OT: Favourite Current Television Programme?
Well, it's lucky I have never seen an episode of said show.
