The dreaded 'bowl out'
This is a ridiculous way to split 2 teams in a tied game of cricket. Instead, id have another 2 overs each for both sides in a full game situation.

I reckon it should be a 'tickle out'. Where the last player not to or flinch wins it for their team. Happy days.
Re: The dreaded 'bowl out'
Sorry, I thought the thread was about someone having a bowel out . . . was about to make a silly joke about a colostomy bag and henry's head . . . . silly me.

Why not make it a tie and share points, when teams are evenly placed? They don't seem to have problems declaring a draw when two hugely unequal teams can't play because of rain...Henry wrote:This is a ridiculous way to split 2 teams in a tied game of cricket. The problem I think is that a draw seems to be very open, while a tie is all knotty and closed. Add the mirror effect and you have the answer.

Re: The dreaded 'bowl out'
Like football's penalties, it's exciting and dramatic, and certainly fits in with the Twenty20 concept.
It's not as if it's going to happen that often either, as tied matches are still relatively rare even in this format. I could understand people objecting if they proposed settling all drawn Tests with it for example, but can't see what harm it does here or even 50-over cricket.

exactly. the whole point of twenty20 is you get to see a result ,one way or the other, on the day. also, you cant leave it at a tie in a KO match.

Aye.
Of course they might consider a bowl-out in the washed out games. Just send them out in the pouring rain to bowl at the stumps.

If it's that rainy and horrible, send them out for a mud wrestle. With the South African dancers...

Whenever I'm not awake, I'm usually sleeping.
Except for that one time when I was dead.
