Symonds and Watson in some doubt for Melbourne test.
According to the radio news which reported on our training session from this morning, Symonds batted all right in the nets but struggled to bowl while Watson required the physio to treat him for an apparent back injury.

Re: Symonds and Watson in some doubt for Melbourne test.
Symonds as a batsman only and 70% in the field is a liability to Australia. With Watson also in doubt, David Hussey could well find himself making his debut on boxing day. Or if they're looking for a like for like replacement, would it be too outrageous to suggest that Moises Henriques could be getting the shock of his life via a phone call from Andrew Hilditch as I type?

Re: Symonds and Watson in some doubt for Melbourne test.
Watson probably will make it as he did return to the nets to bat.
ALL-ROUNDER Shane Watson gave a scare to the Australia camp ahead of the Boxing Day Test when he left the nets holding his back today. He left the nets after a bowling stint and went straight to the dressing rooms with medical staff.
But he returned later for some batting practice.
Watson is given a good chance of playing in the second Test against South Africa starting at the MCG on Boxing Day because of a knee injury to fellow Queenslander Andrew Symonds.
Symonds went through the motions at this morning's training session because of the knee injury that also limited his bowling in the Perth Test earlier this week.

I'd pick James Hopes (and Andrew McDonald) before Henriques.

Australian cricket really would be in crisis if either of those two got a test cap.

Watson is a sook whose whimpering behaviour is constantly reinforced by the medical staff platoon deperate for validation.
With that said, he's the third best (available) fast bowler amongst the top dozen batsmen in the land. Why did Siddle play in Perth? Why shouldn't Watson play in Melbourne?

Henriques has done nothing in the Shield to warrant selection.

Henriques is the best bowler out of the three, even if he's probably the worst batsman at this stage.

Well he is. Hopes and McDonald are 125 kph pie merchants. Henriques can swing it at around 135 kph

I think it's the other way around - Smellychick looks to have the most potential with the bat and a useful 5th/6th bowler with the ball.

I was a bit confused with Hayden's statement in his press conference today. He uttered words to the effect that he's been striking th ball well but it's ironic that he's playing in Melbourne which has been a good ground for him.

He's the only decent bit of eye candy though.
