Ashes to be shown on SBS again.
I have Fox so don't have to worry but it will be great for those who don't. When Nine had it they didn't start until the second session and it overlapped with Wimbledon.
Following on from its rating success in 2005 and its strengthened partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), SBS today announced it had secured the free-to-air television rights to broadcast the 2009 Ashes Test Series.
The agreement between SBS and the ECB makes provision for live telecasts of the five tests, all one-day internationals between Australia and England and daily online highlights clips.
In 2005 SBS were responsible for ensuring that the Ashes Test Series was available to free-to-air audiences, not just Pay TV viewers, when it committed to broadcasting that year’s series amid disinterest from other networks.
“No other free-to-air Australian broadcaster would commit to televising every ball live, in and out of prime-time,” said SBS Managing Director, Shaun Brown.
“SBS wanted to ensure it provided public access to an event such as the Ashes Series. The public deserve to see the Ashes, the premier cricket contest worldwide,” continued Mr Brown.
“We are very excited to announce this agreement with SBS for the 2009 Ashes Series which is great news for ECB at an exciting time for World cricket. SBS were broadcast partners for the 2005 ‘npower Ashes Series’, and we are delighted that we can extend that partnership into 2009 for the next home Ashes series,” said John Perera, ECB Commercial Director.
“The stock of Ashes Cricket has never been higher, as displayed by the enormous sense of anticipation surrounding the upcoming Ashes Series in Australia, and we’re all hoping for a repeat of the unprecedented scenes we saw last summer in the 2009 Ashes Series in England and Wales,” continued Mr Perera.

Grouse.
Next question is whether they will put it on a few seconds delay so you can't listen to the radio.

Re: Ashes to be shown on SBS again.
Good of you to share that so-called breaking news with us Red.
Given that SBS put out the press release you have cut and pasted on:
OCTOBER 29th, 2008
It's only taken you about 9 weeks to catch up.
The date's even in the name of the link, FFS.

Some are idiots, some are ferals (Some are, admittedly, both). That would cover about 98% of them from my experience.skully wrote:Erm, is there any other kind?embee wrote:lardbucket wrote:Thanks God ... for a moment I thought they were showing the 2005 Ashes again.
