Not surprised. Climate change and all - they might be gone for a decade if the waters return.

Re: Worcester to leave New Road?
Nope! Mark Newton posted this on the WCCC supporters' forum less than three hours ago:
" Let's nail this one immediately, the headline and opening paras. are highly misleading. The club is NOT pondering a move to a new ground under any circumstances. It has given support to the Sports Hub development at Hindlip given the world class sporting facilities the plan envisages, which would be great for the City and County. As far as the club is concerned, we would end up with a second ground capable hosting first XI cricket (another contingency in the event of summer floods) but more importantly, it would be a base for the second XI, academy, Youth and Recreational cricket, and would cost us nothing. It would also give us a purpose built indoor cricket centre."

A shame if it happens, imo. New Road is one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world.

Glamster, surely?
They could play in sequined shirts and shiny shoes - the gayest cricket club in the world.

Not going to happen - a new pavillion is in the process of being built, and work on a hotel will start probably after the end of the 2009 season (assuming planning permission is granted)

What about "Glamsaucy Apple Bandits"?
The new ground could be rechristened the Gabba.

The 'sports hub', which will be situated adjacent to rugby's Worcester Warriors' Sixways Stadium, will also ultimately feature an Olympic size swimming pool...
Pfffft . . . not very ambitious.
New Road boasts one several times the size of that for 6 months of the year.

That'd give Mudge the chance to fulfil his fantasy of playing FC cricket.Dello wrote:DJ_Smerk wrote:Basil wrote:DJ_Smerk wrote:Move them to Cardiff?

And they'd have to have furry little ears on their caps, too.

Clamson wrote:What's the point if it continually floods?
All the new-build at the ground will be above flood level with a raised pedestrian walkway, so it will always be accessable. There's not a lot they can do to stop the playing area flooding - shite happens!
