KP to leave Hampshire
Too far from his London home apparently... doesn't leave too many alternatives. Could he be the first player to represent England without being attached to a county? Not sure if there's any rule against it but with England and his IPL team he will hardly ever get to represent whoever he plays for anyway, he could just play freelance T20 whenever he doesn't have England commitments.

Can't work him out for love nor money. I'd rather bring a family up in a rural area of the south coast than in London any day. Why do they need to live there for gawd's sake?

He can afford to live in Hampstead or Richmond, Ange - so he gets the best of both worlds..

You can still smell the bad city smell's in Hampstead and it's small, I've been there and Richmond is posh and green in places but very very small.

Re: KP to leave Hampshire
I like how a 90 minute commute is considered too much these days
Chelmsford is 45 minutes on the train from Liverpool St. Guess its Slurrey or Middlesex. Infact he's got Slurrey written all over him.....

Rubbish. Hampstead Heath is a decent size and Richmond Park is about 4 times the size of Central Park - certainly not 'very, very small'!

Re: KP to leave Hampshire
He lives in Chelsea. I got the impression from him emphasising his place of residence that it was a status thing for him to want to live there rather than in Hampshire. I worked near Richmond when I was over there last; it's a very congenial type of place. I loved London but got the impression it's not much fun if you haven't got a lot of money. Obviously KP can afford a Sloane Square type lifestyle so it's no issue.

Re: KP to leave Hampshire
Which county would want to sign him? Is there a huge benefit for a county that has a top England player in their squad? Pietersen has played something like 20 games for Hampshire in 6 years. He wouldn't help the county actually win too many games, but he might sell a few more replica shirts.
Surrey it is then.
