4m Rupees for tracksuits, but no money for cricket balls
This blog shouldn't go by unnoticed: http://blogs.cricinfo.com/beyondtheblues/archives/2009/02/the_elusive_kookaburra.php
A couple of research points:
1 lakh = 100,000
1 Rupee = about 1 and a half British pence or 3 Australian cents (according to www.xe.com)
It alleges a Kookaburra ball costs in excess of £40 and that the BCCI AGM cost around £40,000 (in India, mind, where labour costs are not comparable with the UK).

I had read it last week how 40 lakhs were spent on giving Police guards tracksuits last IPL. Didn't get time to post on it. This is the same Delhi Cricket Board that spent 40 lakhs on alchohol bills and meeting entertainment expenses sometime back.

Re: 4m Rupees for tracksuits, but no money for cricket balls
ridiculous. like akash says it doesnt make sense to have it only for the duleep, probably the idea of alternate rounds of ranji is an idea worth pursuing
but anyways, if they have made a decision to use the kooka ball then it should be made available in sufficient quantities for the match, practice, etc. 3000 bucks is expensive, but even a 1,000 balls is a drop in the ocean for the bcci. god knows they spend more than that on liquor for their meetings. its not an acceptable situation at all

also i dont know if this is restricted only to the delhi association or all state associations. but since its a bcci tournament the bcci is also responsible for the same, they need to make sure the state associations are providing what are really bare necessities for the players and if the state cannot afford it they should make a central fund available for purchase

Good on Rachel for bringing this issue up.
Disgraceful stuff from DDCA. Absolutely disgraceful. But what else can you expect from a sports body who are ready to shell out millions for their liquor bills and not on an absolutely basic need to play the game of cricket, a game which is their responsibility to nurture and develop.
I just pity Delhi cricketers, I really do.

On a side note, Chopra's blog and book make pretty good reading.

Gotta love the people who run Indian cricket and their whole corrupt bloody carry-on. Yet they continue to strut the world stage asserting that they are only looking after the best interests of the game after being oppressed by England and Australia for so long.
F*ckers.
F*ckers.
