Thought about it, but Mitchell averaged 49 in the 30s and 40s, arguably a tougher era.

Lindsay's reputation with the bat was built around one outstanding series. Other than that, he was moderate & his keeping was inferior to the other pair.

Tend to agree Wally, but in that series he was immense.

Lindsay also averaged 41 in Aus in 63/4

Hayden averaged 51 and Ponsford 54 (as opener in 31 innings) v Morris's 46. AB and SRW about the same but I'd take AB any time.

And simply get farked re: Gilly. Best keeper-batsmen EVER.
