FWIW, and for comparison, here is Boyks' suggested squad in the book I mentioned a while back ...

B Richards
B Mitchell
E Barlow
G Pollock
AD Nourse
M Procter
J Kallis
J Warne
N Adcock
A Donald
V van der Bijl
H Tayfield
A Faulkner

Many the same. And one or two of the differences only because he went for a squad of 13 (for different conditions). Have bolded differences.

Thought about it, but Mitchell averaged 49 in the 30s and 40s, arguably a tougher era.

Wasn't using my glasses and was typing too fast for my brain. J Waite it is.

There is no John Warne. (Unless Shane knows something?)

It's to the right of his left leg, and the left of his right leg. Many a British nurse can confirm.

Lindsay's reputation with the bat was built around one outstanding series. Other than that, he was moderate & his keeping was inferior to the other pair.

Tend to agree Wally, but in that series he was immense.

Keith Miller could possibly slot in at 6 with either Ponting or Chappell making way.

And if you prefer 3 quicks and 1 spinner, DKL for Tiger.

With all of the batting above him, Australia could affors to select Healy or Marsh rather than Gilchrist due to their far superior glovework.
Also- Hayden?? FFS. Get Arthur Morris in there. SRW for Border as well. I just think he was a better batsman.

Hayden averaged 51 and Ponsford 54 (as opener in 31 innings) v Morris's 46. AB and SRW about the same but I'd take AB any time.

And simply get farked re: Gilly. Best keeper-batsmen EVER.
