If it's Castle, you're being had.
nah it's not.
On the price?
Aye - was just a throwaway line about the 'quality' of Castle lager really.
Enjoy.
Got a couple of these lined up for later.
Thought so

Take the foreign shilling if you like - true creekeet supporters will just keep dancing around the pole and waving tiny hankies on the Hambledon green as of yore.

I think the earliest known recipe for beer is also the world's oldest recorded prayer so hoisting a pint in memory of George might be appropriate
Actually I think the recipe/prayer is Indian, so I'll forgive them for the BCCI.

Right I think I'll take a leisurely drive to my bowls club and then meander over to the cricket club and wtch either to ODI or the IPL on the big screen.

On the plus side, you'll be 3 sheets to the wind when I'm just starting out, and Monday morning will also arrive sooner.

Just checked Wikipedia. He was born in Turkey and became a prominent soldier in the Roman army which means he probably travelled around a lot. It seems he is the patron saint of various places in Eastern and Southern Europe including Ljubliana which is not far from Hungary. He is also the patron saint of Herpes, Syphillis, sheep, skin diseases and the Portuguese Navy among about 50 other things.
I'm not sure how much we can trust the Wikipedia article though. It tells us that he died in Israel but also that he was beheaded in Turkey. It also states quite solemnly that him slaying a dragon was actually a myth and that many bays in Lebanon are named after Saint George, particularly St George Bay.
I'm going out on a limb and suggesting he didn't die in Israel.
wasn't Israel part of the Ottoman Empire?
The Ottoman didn't exist for another 1000 years. Israel was still Roman in St George's time and for a long time after. It wasn't called Israel at the time though.

Fairly safe bet if he was beheaded in Turkey.

So St George didn't carry broken cups.
Perhaps St Edmund did and that's why he lost the patron saint of England job.

A White dragon on a red background has been suggested by some but I don't know if it has any historical link to St Edmund.
Looks like he could become the Patron Saint of Broken Cups.

I did once skip a couple of hundred yards along the packed seafront at Whitby one May Day morning to the sound of the Morris Dancers doing their 'thing'.
Think the previous night's MDMA must still have been coursing through my veins . . .
