Apparently, 50 is the new 40.

You know the saying . . . "If youth but knew and age but could". Your 50s are the time in your life when you do have the knowledge and you still have the drive and ability.

All over the world there are people who think this millenium began in 2001 for the same reason. I guess they would say this is the calendar most of us follow.

This is a bit different. Embee made the original dig that August might count as month 0 which was obviously a reference to the old Y2K debate. My response was the suggestion that those who think the millenium began in 2001 would have to logically conclude that Bas would only be 50 when his age is recorded as 51.

As in the case you refer to, it was intended in jest but maybe it was a bit too subtle.
