OK, I know it'll be called 'P20' but that's just semantics.

The only encouraging sign inthe article is this bit:
This tournament has been born out of a desire to tap into the IPL-style market and was based on research carried out by a committee chaired by Essex chairman Nigel Hilliard that suggested people wanted to see more Twenty20, although there is a growing feeling that overload may soon be reached.

Re: There's no such thing as too much t20 cricket
The powers that be need to sit down and work out how they're going to tackle this issue now or it's going to become a runaway train that stuffs up cricket for good.
Everybody can't have their own big-time T20 tournament or we will be drowning in the stuff.
The ECB are starting to rival the BCCI for pure greed.

Well whoever first thought up backyard cricket should sue anyone involved with 20/20, but saying that and to paraphrase Sir Humphrey:
"If you're going to do this damn silly thing, don't do it in this damn silly way".
A two-division format goes against the successful franchised based system used in the IPL
So the toffs are going to give in to the herd and further fark an already farked local system that has basically farked their test team team since 1877 anyway, without any of the potential monetary benefits of a comp without tribal loyalties as it's bread and butter.
Smart that.

So explain to me exactly how that would be a bad thing...Hass wrote:Everybody can't have their own big-time T20 tournament or we will be drowning in the stuff.

It's a poorly conceived idea, every fecker knows it, but Giles Clarke is too much of a cock muncher to admit it.
This might well be the final season I bother getting my club membership at Notts as I play cricket on a Saturday, there's rarely any Championship cricket played on a Sunday, and I'm not interested in what would amount to 3 months of T20 sh*tfests being virtually the only cricket that will be accessible to me once the FPT has finished.
Utter bollox. The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

God I can't wait until Giles Clarke quits/gets hit by a car. His sole purpose as ECB chairman is to make as much money as possible. He doesn't even try to be subtle about it. I thought Lord Mclaren was a bit of a c*nt, but this guy takes the cake.

I want see how they propose to pay all these overseas players who, it is supposed, will flock to play in the P20.

Had the choice of T20 on One HD and the Pakster JAMODI on Foxy last night. Watching Pup and the Pea-heart scratching our way to victory on a turner was much more compelling.
