Day night tests that go for 4 days. Bloody hell.....

In the space of an ICC meeting, all of the things that first attracted me to cricket could be gone, and we'll be left with nothing to turn to.

FFS! I remember a 'Goodies' episode that is remarkably similar to this nonsense.

4 days tests? So they want more draws then...

It defies logic. How many great days cricket would we have missed out on throughout history if tests were 4 days and not 5?

I think 5 day tests are relatively new in the overall picture

Interesting how they have suggested a better balance between bat and ball. If this had been seen to earlier, more matches would have gone four days anyway.

I dunno, raise the overs per day from 90 to 105 (adding an hour of play to each day) and you only miss out on 30 overs overall...

But what exactly is wrong with the extra day in the first place? How would reducing one day miraculously bring people who don't watch test cricket now?

I'd prefer five days but they're concerned with the number of days outside of weekends which attract low patronage.

Lose any amount of play to rain in a 4 day game and you're farked. At least with 5 you can catch-up...

Blame the BCCI. They're to blame and Morgan is just their stooge.

4-day tests are BS as it takes away the spice of some really edge-of-the-seat finishes. It might speed up things within the match and promote more draws to start with but I can't see more than 15 overs/hour ever being bowled. Maybe they are considering limiting each innings to 90 overs. That, however, would be the beginning of the end.

Bags of shite. Personally think there'd be major discrepancies between batting in the day and at night, certainly over here. It's pretty clownish.

it just seems to be an idea so far. they will probably trial day/night in a few FC matches before it is ever tried. didnt we have a day/night ranji final a decade or so back? was shelved pretty quickly after that

though i dont see how reducing the number of days will help, except in maybe scheduling more tests in less time

Not that I know of, TO. It can be the same conditions in terms of heat and humidity between the morning and after tea - but when the sun goes down, it's a different story IMO.

Also, that extra day that may be made wouldn't make a huge deal of difference in creating more Test matches. 4 Tests would leave a 5th one open, but most teams do 3-test series anyway.
