You could always give the guy the credit that is due for his batting. It's a terrific achievement, and he's been a terrific player.

His average until the time when Waqar, Wasim and the good Windians finished was around 44 too. He's done very well in the era of average inflation. Having said that, he has a storming record in india and one can't really argue with 38 test centuries in the book.

Not entirely sure if 260 runs in 4 Tests v Bangladesh, or 290 runs in 3 Tests counts as exactly 'fiiling your boots', tbh.

From 2002 til 2006 he was nigh on unstoppable, but his stats for the last 2 1/2 years show signs of a slight decline.
