Sri Lanka v New Zealand, 2nd Test, Colombo, August 26-30
Good to see you guys are keeping up the trend of covering Test matches.
Sri Lanka are currently 258/3.
Vettori has joined the 300 wicket club and 3,000 run club. Effort son.

Pretty normal day, Sri Lanka just edging it. One more wicket for NZ would have probably put it even.
262/3 at Stumps. Danny Vettori a welcome addition to the 300 club.

Samaraweera is without doubt the most underrated batsman on the planet.

Samarweera, underrated?
Let him first score runs everywhere across globe to be rated.

416. A bit too much for NZ? They lost their top order pretty quickly this time as well. Don't they have better openers and a decent #3?

Taylor is such a find. NZ will be even further at sea without his contributions.

Yeah, scoring runs against NZ away from NZ is sooo hard.Henry wrote:Samaraweera is without doubt the most underrated batsman on the planet.

Good point seeing their leading player never learnt the rules.

Vettori needs to consider batting in the top 6

Watched a bit of this over the weekend. I say, does anyone reckon this young Murali cove chucks it, or what?

Agreed, he's wasted at 8 - great temperament, and enough shots to make a regular contribution. He could probably open, tbh.

Didn't they try that and had little success? Or was that ODI cricket?lardbucket wrote:Nath wrote:Vettori needs to consider batting in the top 6

Fantastic knock by Vettori and the Kiwi tail yet again. Must be gut wrenching they got so far and couldn't fight it off completely.
But of course it is logical to assume Vettori is also 'cheapening' test cricket by scoring such 100s as well.....

Is that like "silver-plated Vettori" without the expense?

Vettori must be contemplating a trip to West Ham or Arsenal if he's getting himself blimey-plated.
A sort of vaccination.

Vettori 140. Missed it, but must have been a heck of a knock.
Batman, as I said I haven't seen the innings, but it's doubtful if Vettori has cheapened a 100; look at the other NZ scores. Also, he did it in the 4th innings. Against Murali and Herath.
Doesn't sound like 'cheaping'. On the contrary, it feels like one of the better - if not near great - rearguard actions by someone who is a bowler and still isn't expected to score that much, far less make a 140 when the next highest score is 56.
Anyone saw the knock?

I don't think it was a cheap 100 either. It was a more sarcastic comment that has it's origin in this thread! [Cheapening the 300 club]
