Re: Time for a music thread
Just watched the Days of Our Lives doco about Queen. Currently on my post-Queen watching come down.
Wasn't in the UK when I think it was shown on the beeb so only just got hold of it. Story is obvs the same, Live Aid gives me goosebumps, Freddie always dies at the end...but it was good to hear some not so party line stuff from R and B. think it's been a bit long for no one to speak ill of the group and some of the music (yes, Hot Space, you) so that was refreshingly candid.
All in all, I feel content yet wistful, I still detest Queen+Paul Rodgers and I must go to Montreux sometime.
That is all.

Yeah. That.
Even though while he was alive, I wasn't even aware of his existence. Queen did their last live concert before I was born. Both these things make me sad.

I bet you glubbed a bit when they played "Days of Our Lives" over the images of a dying Freddie near the end.

Re: Time for a music thread
The Beatles only had four songs. They just jiggled a chord or two around and left the rest to George Martin.

I love how casually that chap is drumming. Give him more drums!
I've loved stuff like that ever since I saw Ray Cooper go crazy on Rollin and Tumblin on Clapton Unplugged. Sweet stuff.

That song usually doesn't make me cry. It's quite uplifting...mostly.
I can't listen to 'Mother Love' without crying though. The final verse where suddenly it's Brian singing, because Freddie was too ill to finish the song, which is heart-rending lyrically anyway. Ugh. Tears-a-plenty.
'I warned you!'
heh.

Jeez. Is he singing that at a wake? Bit too to brash, I'd describe it as, to upset me, but very bleak! Obviously upset his audience somewhat.

Re: Time for a music thread
oh yes! Nothing but a raw voice and an aching guitar.
I like Crossroad Blues by Robert Johnson. Makes me want to sit on a porch in the hot, dusty south, drinking cold ice tea and eating fried chicken. Or peach pie. So evocative.

Is the whole album that good?
I'm on Fire is possibly the hottest song ever written.
