Just for horrie
There was some funny banter on Foxy last night between Gump and MEW while they waited for the cyclone affected game in Mumbai to be abandoned. They were talking about a Test that MEW held up so he could watch the Melbourne Cup, but there were barrier delays so the game ended up being held up for 20 minutes or so. NLWL was batting and got the sh!ts right and proper and barked "fark, you farkin Waughs run this farkin game." MEW coolly turned to him with a grin and said "Yeah, we do."
For h's enjoyment.

rofl...mew can never be accused of not stating the obvious...thanx S..
btw S...do you know why gump seems unpopular with some of his dubber colleagues???...I can't understand it as he always seems a reasonable, intelligent and humble bloke...I hope he makes a career in the media post cricket

Dunno if it's with his dubber colleagues, h, but certainly there apparently are some Aussie team mates that he is not popular with (Drunky being top of the list). And I think you hit it on the head with the highlighted bit - he's got some brains and Drunky can't stand that.horace wrote:btw S...do you know why gump seems unpopular with some of his dubber colleagues???...I can't understand it as he always seems a reasonable, intelligent and humble bloke...I hope he makes a career in the media post cricket

The same reasoning would apply to Bung as Drunky. He is jealous of Gump's brainpower.

As arrogant as incorrect seeing as one was dumped and the other went under protest.

Erm, I think it was back when they were in their full pomp, qmy, perhaps in the late 90s-very early 2000s.

The NLWL wouldn't have had the guts to say that to his brother

I'm aware of the context (time) of the quote. My point was it didn't pan out.

They were the Kings at the time, obviously, just as, apparently, Drunky is now. And we all know that will end in tears.

Had to be 1994 and they were in Pakistan. I think there may be some poetic licence to this story.

Yeah, I was actually trying to find what Test it was and the best I could do was the 1st test v the Snoozers in 2001/02. But the Test started on 8 Nov which was 2 days after the Melbourne Cup was run (assuming it was run on Nov 6 2001).
Maybe it wasn't a Test. Could been an early tour Aus XI game or sumpent.

The difference being Punter is actually a consistent batsman. The similarities being he's as shithouse a captain as Ksr and will probably benefit from the largese shown Kjr.
Anyway I'm doubtful of the providence of the quote. Sounds to sharp a comeback (and it's not a particularly sharp comeback) to come from Kjr who let's face it was basically brain dead.

Re: Just for horrie
I can't imagine MEW having the clout to stop a Test match. Steve maybe, but not Mark.
Given how you tell it with JL slagging him off, I reckon a NSW v WA Sheild game is most likely

That was my first thought. You're probably right about the Moe maiden. How many FC games are scheduled to include a day's play on Cup day?

Ta! The Saturday FR followed by a SS match and earlier starts to the season will probably see it happen more often.
Probably not in Melbourne though.

Re: Just for horrie
NSW seems a little faction ridden these days (I include ponting as he is now a dishonorable spiv)...clarke and the chokarian are clearly not on good terms...hughes seems out of favour with the old guard - punter bung etc...gump does not get on with bung...none of them seem to respect horrors ...and watson winning every award going seems to have got up the collective spiv sleeve

Well he ditched that battleaxe he was seeing whilst he was playing for a raving root-rat so he may have made some improvement.

Nah! He should've stayed married to the pensioner and farked around with the root rat. Typical spiv, not a clue. Could've saved a fortune in alimony payments. Surprising considering Kjr always had a healthy appetite for money regardless where it came from.
