Franger ...82 off 81 balls vs the Wozzies .

Moojuice ...50 vs the Wozzies (Dismissed with the score on 7/89)
....306 vs the Billies

How many runs does he need to get back into (contention for) the Ozzie team?

Has he had the "break" that made better Test players of Hayden , Langer , Martyn and Ponting?

Is he marked NTPFAA?

He's out of his depth at the top level, as he proved in the Ashes, and then again in the super test when Murali had him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Out of his depth? Hardly. Was excellent when he filled in for Ponting batting at 3 in India.

Still, don't think we'll see him back in the XI.

Aye. His technique is hella ugly so when he's struggling it looks really bad.

The colour of his cap means he's never out of contention though.

The whole Oz top 7 struggled in the Ashes 05 ....and MuMu having you 4BLD is hardly a crime ...

His series in India at number 3 was very good ...

Probably only David Hussey is ahead of him in the current pecking order. Hodge has lost the plot, there are still question marks over White's ability with the bat in the longer form of the game, Voges has started the season poorly, Watson is crap and he'll get injured again anyway, and Pomersbach needs to turn more attractive half century's into hundreds to really put his name up in lights.

Katich is back in contention.

Hayden, Martyn and Langer were "out of their depth at Test level".

If he keeps scoring runs he has to be a chance. I agree that David Hussey is the only middle order batsman ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.

Cheers.

Katich also played the Indian spinners well at home in 03-04.

He won't get back in immediately but he's a real show for the Indian series - especially if Hussey has to be moved up the order.

He's a very good player of spin, who saved our arses when India was here last, and could well do so again. He can probably bowl almost as well as MacGill, too, so it saves picking him.

Turn it up - the cheating little runt ended Kat's career in the SuperTest by obstructing him on a run where he ended just short of his crease. It was one of the worst displays of sportsmanship I have ever seen on a cricket field.

2 tests earlier against England he had scored a fighting 60 odd before getting fired by Aleem Dar in the worst decision of the series. England ended up squeaking home in that test by 3 wickets.

Kat has been one of the most shabbily treated test cricketers ever for Aust. I did query a couple of weeks ago here whether he was an outside chance to open.

Katich is a solid player, and I wouldn't be upset to see him back in the test team. Gives his all for the side.

But assuming Roy is at 6, he would have to push one of Ponting, Hussey or Clarke out, and I just can't see that happening.

And I particularly endorse JGK's remark re Trent Bridge 2005. The Kat was just starting to get on top of the bowlers and we would probably have won the test if Dar had gotten that decision right. Katich would have been a hero and forgiven anything in the following summer.

But then Mike Hussey might not have got a mid-order spot, so you win some, you lose some.

A fair call JGK, but it will take the Kid's hammy, a sudden Hodge-ectomy by the NSP and David Hussey to be run over by a bus for Fleas to get a call-up.

Why is everyone suddenly talking as if Symonds' spot is water tight? He still has a pretty poor record in test cricket, despite scoring a century against Sajid Mahmood and a piss poor Steve Harmison in a dead rubber test. Im still not convinced he has the technique to consistently score runs at test level.

Phurt. He made an innings saving and Test-win-setting-up 150 only 2 Tests ago, he has been one of our best ODI players since then, and his early Shield form has been good. Roy will be in the 12.

Nobody is, we are assuming he will be in the first test team which he will be.

Whether he is still there in 12 months we don't know.

Two Test innings ago, Symonds made a 150. He's entitled to at least two or three more games, whatever happens.

with no apologies for this 'bump' ... I like to revisit what we thought previously on issues.

Henry's opinion on Katich (2007 version) and horrie's silence are both interesting.

The top bowlers stiill fancy getting him out on a regular basis. I don't reckon England have ever lost too much sleep over him.
