Given that that is less than a movie ticket, and probably the cheapest adult ticket price for anything at the MCG in decades, is it surprising that people will go to watch it? If they dropped the ticket prices for Tests and ODIs to a comparable level, they'd oversubscribe the ground a dozen times over.

It's amazing that they're finally talking about creating a 'window' for domestic cricket. It's something that was needed 15 years ago. I wonder what could have been had we condensed the Mercantile Mutual Cup into a three of four week long contest with all international players available.

The fact that domestic cricket has been treated as second-rate is what caused its downfall as a spectator sport. It's a shame we couldn't have fixed that problem in the first place - instead we're stuck with swallowing the foul-tasting medicine that is Twenty20.
